Happy February! There are lots of exciting things happening these month! We'll kick off the month celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday, February 1st. Students are encouraged to wear red on Friday, February 2nd for National Wear Red Day for American Heart Month and complete Coach Green's Healthy Heart Challenge this month! We'll have our second quarter awards assemblies on Friday, February 9th. On February 14th we will be enjoying class parties for Valentine's Day, and 5th grade parents are invited to attend a parent night at Don Tyson School of Innovation on Thursday, February 15th. We will also have UAMS here on Wednesday, February 21st from 4pm-6pm for a parent night. Finally, please save the date for student-led conferences. These will take place March 6th and 7th, and we look forward to seeing our families then! It's going to be another great month at Monitor!

Attendance at school is important for successful academic progress. Regular attendance it also required by Arkansas State Law 6-18-221. It is important for students to be at school each day and on time. Our goal at Monitor Elementary is to have all students miss no more than five days each semester. We do understand that children get sick periodically, however students should be at school unless they have a fever, have been vomiting, or have diarrhea. In addition, every effort should be made to schedule appointments outside school hours or on non-school days. Please call the school office at (479) 750-8749 or reach out to your child's teacher if your student will not be at school.
