Support Our Library
Rapunzel's hair is as long as ever, but she needs to escape from her tower! For the next library design challenge, students will use their STEAM skills (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) to design and construct a way for Rapunzel to escape from her tower (a paper towel tube) using common household and school items.
In order for Mrs. Crans to get this STEAM project started, we need your help in the form of the following materials:
paper towel tubes
plastic or paper disposable cups - all sizes, even the small ones you drink out of at the dentist!
straws
flattened cereal boxes, granola bar boxes, etc.
anything else that might work for students to use to build her way to escape!
Donations of any of these materials can be sent to the Concord Library. Thank you for your support of this exciting learning experience for our kids!

CTC Quick Tip
Garnet Valley CTC Quick Tip #28 Prevention = Persuasion
Did you know? For another approach to prevention read the words of Theodore Caputi, student in the Wharton School of Business, sharing what his parents did that was effective in preventing he and his brother from drug and alcohol use/abuse.
“My parents did not spend much time lecturing me or my brother on the health effects of drugs. Instead, my mother spoke to us in terms of our goals. “When you’re young,” she said, “all the doors of opportunity are wide open, and you can do anything you want or become anyone you want.” But she warned, “Mistakes along the way, like drug and alcohol use, close some of those doors, and you’ll miss the opportunities you once had.” Every time I was offered a drink in high school, I could hear the thud of a door slamming shut and refused.” Theodore Caputi, 6/15
Call to action… Family Attachment was one of GV’s strongest protective factors with a 74% level of protection. Let’s take Mr. Caputi’s suggestions, “We should have teens develop their own, personal short- and long-term goals. Teens will begin thinking about what they want to do and accomplish, and discuss how drugs and alcohol can interfere with their specific grand plans.” Theodore Caputi, 6/15 To learn more about Mr. Caputi’s thoughts and other practical approaches, click below and explore the Partnership for a Drug-Free Kids website.
