Reflection from school mass
In church today, we learned about the Immaculate Conception. One thing we learned was immaculate means "without sin." This is when Gabriel, the angel told Mary she was going to give birth to Jesus. Today, we asked for forgiveness by writing all of our sins on a piece of paper and gave it to the priest. Forgiving is a way we can be like Mary and help our relationship with God grow.
Paloma, Grade 5
Today in mass we learned about sin. It was the feast of the Immaculate Conception which means conceived without stain of sin. The Immaculate Conception is about Mary. she was without sin so she could give birth to Jesus. We also learned that God will forgive you no matter what you do. To be forgiven, you just have to ask.

cold weather uniforms
- Boots are not acceptable shoes for any students.
- While girls are permitted to wear tights, leggings are not acceptable. Some parents have asked for help identifying the difference between leggings and tights. Tights go over the foot, similar to pantyhose while leggings stop at the ankle.
- Khaki colored casual pants are acceptable for all students with uniform tops on days where the forecasted low is 45 degrees or below. This pair of khaki pants does not have to be purchased from our uniform company; you may purchase them from any store. However, pants must have belt loops as students must still wear a belt. Khaki pants may not have any rips or tears, and cargo style khaki pants are not acceptable. January and February are typically the colder months of the year. Please consider getting your child(ren) a pair of khaki pants for these cool weather days.

Christmas dress down days
Students may dress in Christmas attire on Friday, December 11th. As an option, students may choose to wear ugly Christmas attire that day.
We are planning a school-wide pajama dress down day on Friday, December 18th. Please keep in mind that pajamas must be school appropriate and should meet the general uniform guidelines. General rule of thumb: if a parent, or student, questions whether their clothing is unacceptable, the student should probably wear something else.
*As with all dress down days, administration reserves the right to require the student to change if clothes are deemed inappropriate for school.

Covid update
While the CDC may have changed the length of time required for persons to quarantine when a person tests positive for COVID, or someone in the household tests positive, the Diocese of Orlando has made the decision to maintain the 14 day quarantine for students and staff of SJCS.

Gospel Reading This Sunday
Gospel for Sunday, Dec. 13:
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" He said, "I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,'" as the prophet Isaiah said. Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. They asked him, "Why then are you baptizing if you are neither the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal."
