Welcome Back!
Principal's Corner
Happy New Year! Welcome back to Jefferson. We hope you all had a restful and wonderful holiday break with family fun and time to rejuvenate. This spring we will continue to work with your children to develop academic and social skills. In January, we will also practice all of our safety drills.
Thank you for your continued support. We enjoy working with your children and find joy each day in watching their continued growth and development both academically and socially. I am so lucky to work with the dedicated staff, students, and parents at Jefferson Elementary!

Building Resiliency in our Students
Disappointment, discouragement and frustration are all a part of life, so it is important children build skills to deal with these difficulties. These situations provide opportunities for them to build resiliency. Overprotection may cause kids to be emotionally fragile and never learn to bounce back from adversity.
When children learn to deal with little setbacks they are better prepared to deal with bigger ones later on in life. If a child never loses, they never learn to deal with loss. If one is never disappointed or frustrated they never learn how to overcome. Through struggle children learn persistence and determination. Sometimes the most uncomfortable situations present the biggest opportunities. Children with resiliency take on big challenges because they will be more confident and less afraid than those who have never struggled through adversity.
