Holidays approaching!
As the days begin to darken and the nights lengthen, we begin to notice a certain trend in the classrooms around the ELC. Children busy themselves with arts and crafts, teachers hum songs, fairy lights twinkle in the backgrounds of the classroom spaces. the children and teachers have begun to count down the days until the holiday break begins, both on their calendars and by opening small gifts each day to mark the passing of time.
Whether your family celebrates Hanukkah, Christmas, the Winter Solstice, or something else, we hope that the upcoming holiday break allows you and your family to spend some quality time with each other enjoying the spirit of the season.
Please remember, school will be closed from the 21st of December through the 3rd of January. Happy holidays!
Wishing tree - refugee support
In the coming week (07.12 - 11.12) there will be a tree displayed in the reception area of school. This tree will have specific "wishes", or needs, from some of the refugee students being supported through ORSIM (our parent-run charity organization). Our students will select a few of these wishes for us to support with our Lantern Parade funds.
If you would like to know more, or want to support in other ways, please feel free to get in touch with the parents heading the organization at: social.project@metropolitanschool.com
Scholastic Book Club
Thank you for participating in our recent book club with Scholastic. We have finished our final purchases today and were pleased to discover that we earned €76 in points to purchase new books for the classes. A happy surprise!
We hope to run another book club in the springtime, as they are a convenient way for you to be able to purchase reasonably-priced English language books for your children.

Lockers and shoes
Please remember to support your children (and teachers) by helping them to tuck their shoes, slippers, jackets, hats, and other winter attire into their lockers at the start and end of the day. It is only by keeping a tidy locker area, with no additional items lying about, we are able ensure that our cleaning staff is able to do their jobs each evening. Not to mention that it will help to keep those shoes and mittens from being misplaced! We appreciate your support.
