Webster Schools - Family Update
November 6, 2020
From the Desk of Mr. Fimreite
As we continue to navigate this pandemic, the greatest motivation in all we do is to keep students and staff safe. Being face-to-face is always our main objective. After discussions with Burnett County Health Department and the Administrative team, it was determined that is was not possible right now. We were encountering staffing shortages, an increase in positive cases and the number of students/staff who have been identified as close contacts. We are not alone here in Webster. I know of several other schools in our region who are experiencing COVID related Virtual Schooling in the last week.
Please know this decision was not made lightly and we recognize the hardship it puts on many of our Webster families. Our intent is to transition back to in-person learning on Monday, November 30, 2020 and we thank all of you for your patience. We also appreciate the kind words and emails we are receiving as this is difficult for everyone.
Starting on Monday, November 9 through Friday, November 20, 2020, we will transition to our remote instructional model for all students, and instruction will be delivered LIVE on a daily basis whenever possible. In-person classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, November 30, 2020 following our Thanksgiving break.
Each building Principal will be communicating with families to ensure you know what to expect and how to best support your child’s learning during this time.
➔ Laptop: Every student will need their Chromebook.
➔ Extra-Curricular Activities: Coaches and advisors will communicate with athletes/participants/families about their practice and or cancelation plans.
➔ Food Service: We will be starting delivery on Monday and all students who request it will get two breakfasts and two lunches for each child. Meals delivered on Wednesdays will have three breakfasts and three lunches for each child. Meal delivery routes will be created when results are returned with a tentative delivery between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
PLEASE BE SURE TO COMPLETE THE VIRTUAL FORM BELOW OR ON THE WEBSITE.
I know there are some parents that do not currently have a reliable connection. If this is the case for you, please contact your student's Principal by email.
Thank you for your understanding and patience,
Jeff Fimreite, Superintendent
Holiday Reminders
With the holidays coming up, I know that many of us have travel plans. I am asking families that have to travel to please follow the guidelines outlined below. The CDC recommends not to travel at all if it can be avoided. I recognize that this might not be avoidable so please remember to social distance, wear face coverings and wash hands frequently. Our goal is to start back up on November 30, 2020 but that will depend on the number of COVID cases in our schools. Thanks for your consideration and help.
If you see any of the below symptoms students should stay home. Please refer to our Reopening Plan located on the Website for additional information:
Temperature (daily checks)
Cough (new onset or worsening of chronic cough)
Shortness of Breath
Fever 100.4 or higher
Chills
Muscle Pain
Headache
Diarrhea, Nausea or Vomiting
Loss of Taste or Smell
We will get through this, but we need everyone to do their part!
Thanks for your time and attention.
