Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson
Dear Crossroads Community,
We are back at it in the building with our staff getting their classrooms ready to kickoff the 2022-2023 school year! There is some amazing energy flowing through the building. I'd like to offer a huge shoutout to our wonderful custodial team for really putting in the extra efforts to get the building refreshed during a shortened summer due to Crossroads hosting summer school. Thank you, thank you, thanks to our hard working team!
Next week our staff will officially report back on August 16 for our Back to School staff meeting. We all look forward to having students and parents back into the building for our annual Meet the Teacher Night on August 18 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Myself and Mrs. Henson will be in the gym for our Kindergarten Orientation presentation beginning at 4:45.
Please don't forget...the first day of school is Monday, August 22. It is going to be a wonderful 21st year for Crossroads!

WSD Back to School Fair
The WSD will host the 12th Annual Back to School Fair for District families on Saturday, August 13, from 8-11am at Liberty High School. The event is intended to get school supplies in the hands of students who need them the most.
The event is free for District families and will feature dozens of vendors, free school supplies, games and fun activities for children. At last year's event, we distributed over $10,000 worth of school supplies to WSD students. In addition, MoCHIP will be on hand to provide free child identification kits.
While the event is free, families are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Operation Food Search, which serves local families in need. For more information about the Fair, visit the WSD website.

Meet The Teacher Night
We understand and appreciate how much our students and staff look forward to back to school events like Meet the Teacher. Those opportunities to connect are important for so many reasons. Not only do they serve as an introduction for students and their families to their teachers and school staff, but they also provide an opportunity for students and families to take a look around the classroom, locate their desk, and meet new friends.
Meet the Teacher Night will be on Thursday, August 18, beginning at 5:00 pm and ending at 7:00 pm. This will be for all Kindergarten-5th grade students and families.
This is a time for you and your child to meet your child's teacher, drop off your child's school supplies and take a look around the classroom. This isn't a time to discuss specifics pertaining to your child, however if you wish to speak to your child's teacher and share additional information please email them to set up a time.
The evening will end promptly at 7:00 PM so our staff can get home to their families after spending a long day at work.
Kindergarten Registration Reminder
Thank you!
Message From the Nurse
Dear Parent/Guardian,
According to the Wentzville School District’s medication policy; it is required to have a physician and parent signature for all medications given at school. This includes both prescription and over-the-counter medications (i.e. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, cough syrups, etc.) and applies to all students PK-12.
All medication should be delivered by the parent/guardian or a responsible adult. It must be in the pharmacy labeled bottle which contains instructions on how and when the medication is to be administered and should not exceed a 30-day supply. Over-the-counter drugs must be received in the original container and will be administered according to the doctor’s written instructions.
An Authorization or medication form is linked below. Have your child’s doctor sign, and sign your part to complete. Please return to the attention of Maddie by email at amandawhiteaker@wsdr4.org or fax to 636-445-5324. Orders need to be received prior to or with medication at drop off.
New orders must be given each school year.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Nurse Maddie at amandawhiteaker@wsdr4.org. Thank you for your cooperation.

Arrival & Dismissal Information
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We will be sending home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/22. (They will also be available at Meet the Teacher night.) ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no.
Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.
The expectation is all parents will have the lime green car tags ready to go by August 29. If you have any questions or thoughts, please let us know.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:

PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
It’s hard to believe it’s July already. Summer sure is flying by!
The PTA has been busy making lots of plans for next year. We are so excited to be planning events again and have a full year planned with lots of exciting ideas. Health and safety will still be a priority and we will follow all district guidelines.
There are many ways to support the PTA, but the simplest is to join. It’s incredibly easy, just click the link below and fill out the membership form. It just takes a couple of minutes and at the end you will be directed to our PayPal Giving Fund to pay the membership fee ($6) online. Joining carries no obligation, but we do hope that you will attend our meetings and share your voice.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScvxKKdGZ6wfqNWfspgZj9xjDS5epiIEXZiL79KYQyQfxS9OA/viewform
A couple of other simple ways to support the school start with your daily activities, like Box Tops for Education and AmazonSmile. These are both programs to earn money for the school from your everyday shopping and only take a couple of minutes to set up. Once you have the accounts set up, the work is minimal and the dollars really do add up. Visit the websites or download the apps to get started earning money for Crossroads.
But the absolute best way to support the PTA is by participating. We always need volunteers for committees and events and we will send emails when those opportunities are available. As we prepare for next year, we are still looking for a Graphic Artist, Webmaster and Corgi Store Coordinator. If you are interested, please reach out to corgipta@gmail.com to learn more. Most of these roles are not a big time commitment.
We hope to see you at our first general meeting September 13 at 7pm.
Stay tuned, we’ve got lots of fun events coming up!

You Shop, The School Gets Paid!
Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it’s easy for Crossroads to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon. Once you’ve set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Crossroads Elementary PTA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you’ve set this up, it’s easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.
