Drop-In Academic Coaching: EPASS Peer Programs continue to have "drop-in" academic coaching hours every Friday from 1;15pm - 4:15pm on the 2nd floor of Woodruff Library!

PreHealth Holistic Reviews:

The Spring 2016 semester Group PreHealth Holistic Reviews (Group PHHRs) are underway! Check the PHMO website for the PHHR Spring 2016 schedule.


Sophomores are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to complete their Group PHHR and their PHHR 1:1 Follow-Up (completed within 3 weeks of their group session) in order to maximize the effectiveness of the session.


The Group PHHR and the PHHR 1:1 Follow-Up are both MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS to apply for a Composite Letter. Waiting until the last minute will prevent you from gaining insight that could make you a much more competitive applicant.

If you are applying for a 2016 Composite Letter, you can use the links on the new website to find all materials relevant to your Credentials File and your Letters of Recommendation.



  • From the home page, click the far right box (purple) labeled "Health, Law, Grad School"
  • Once here, find the Credentials File Tab on the bottom left of the screen (Under the Pre-Health heading)
  • Once here, you should be able to find and access all relevant links, which are also listed below! (Note, as the page is new, or as it is updated, some of the links included here may change. The best way is to navigate to the website and find the links there as that is where they will be the most up-to-date)

2017 ADEA AADSAS Application Instructions

ADEA is pleased to announce that the 2017 ADEA AADSAS® application instructions are now available on the ADEA GoDental website. The instructions are available early this year in preparation for the opening of the application on June 1, 2016.


On ADEA GoDental, applicants will find detailed information on applying to dental schools. Along with the instructions, it is critical that they review the following sections of the website:


· Preparing for dental school

· The admissions process

· The application to dental school: ADEA AADSAS

Here is an overview of what is new with ADEA AADSAS this year:


1. ADEA AADSAS revised the Release Statement and Code of Conduct.

2. ADEA AADSAS updated questions related to felony and misdemeanor charges.

3. ADEA AADSAS added a question to identify DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) applicants.

4. ADEA AADSAS will be limited payment options to credit card only.

5. ADEA AADSAS has updated the application fees to $245 for the first designation and $98 for additional designations.

In addition to these ADEA AADSAS updates, the dental school admissions process will now allow dental schools to view copies of each verified transcript, and will move the process for letters of evaluation to a paperless process.

Health Advocacy Master's Degree at Sarah Lawrence College

The Health Advocacy Program (HAP) at Sarah Lawrence College educates students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing healthcare field. This is the nation's first master's degree program in health advocacy, and remains the foremost academic program in this area.

The Health Advocacy Program at Sarah Lawrence College prepares students for meaningful careers as advocates working with individuals and in community-based organizations, healthcare settings, and government, all at systems levels. Seminar courses allow faculty and students to engage in interactive discussions stressing critical thinking and problem-solving. The integration of theory and practice is core to the Health Advocacy Program curriculum. Students complete 48 credits of courses and 600 hours of fieldwork that is individualized to the students' educational goals.

AMWHO Emory to Host Georgia Regional Conference

AMWHO Emory is hosting a Georgia Regional Conference here at Emory University this March 18th -20th. AMWHO is the nation's first simulation of the World Health Assembly, and seeks to educate undergraduate/graduate students from across the nation on the proceedings of global health affairs. This goal is achieved through fostering dialogue about compelling global health issues in the annual national conference and regional conferences.

AMWHO Emory invites all students at Emory interested in Global Health, to our 2016 AMWHO Georgia Regional Conference. The theme of the GRC is “Improving Health Literacy through a Sustainable Workforce”


Students participating in the conference will have the opportunity to chose from representing delegates in various regional blocks, to representing NGOs or even Media correspondents such as the New York Times.

Emory College Summer Global Internship Program (Emory)

Emory CIPA is launching a new study abroad program: Emory College Summer Global Internship Program. Students complete an online course with a 7-week internship abroad to Toronto, Hong Kong or Singapore).

Illinois College of Optometry Summer Program

The Illinois College of Optometry will host its 9th annual Focus on Your Future Summer Program for underrepresented minority undergraduate students. The program is a weeklong experience that will expose undergraduate students to the profession of optometry in a variety of settings. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and work with current optometry students, ICO Faculty & Staff, as well as practicing optometrists.

There is no cost to participate in this program and room and board will be provided. Participants are responsible for their travel expenses and/or transportation cost to and from ICO.


Program Dates: Monday, July 11 - Friday, July 15, 2016


Application Period: December 14, 2015 - April 1, 2016


Notification: Applicants will be notified in early May

Community Outreach programs in Kenya, Peru and Guatemala

Azma International invites applications to participate in our Community outreach program. Every year we organize Health camps, food drives and soup kitchens, building and construction in orphanages, schools and other community centres. Volunteers in the outreach program have the opportunity to assist in donating food, education materials and clothing, cooking and serving children in orphanages and schools, building and construction and assist the staff in Medical camps, Dental health camps and HIV testing and awareness camps. In 2016, we have community outreach programs in Kenya and Peru in Spring, Summer and Winter 2016.


Volunteering is a great way to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience using your skills to help others while building close relationships with your fellow students. The Uganda Village Project (UVP) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in international public health, working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of Iganga, in southeast Uganda.


Summer 2016 Internship Opportunity

They are currently accepting applications for their Summer 2016 internship program. Interns spend 8-9 weeks living and working in a village in rural Iganga District, Uganda, gaining experience in public health, community education, and international development. Interns work in diverse teams composed of Ugandan and non-Ugandan team members. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in several focus areas, including water, sanitation, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, malaria, and reproductive health.

Pathway to Medical School Programs

Foothills AHEC will be hosting their second annual Pathway to Med School Program this summer in Gainesville, Georgia from June 1-30, 2016 in collaboration with several community partners. Our program is designed for undergraduate college students from north Georgia enrolled in an approved pre-med curriculum who plan to attend medical school and complete broad training in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or women’s health to become primary care physicians in the state of Georgia.


There is also a similar program offered for students from south Georgia by the Southwest Georgia AHEC. Students may only apply to one of the two programs.
