Runyan Mission
Our Mission: Something to ponder...
- What joy have I added to the lives of my students and colleagues lately?
As a child my family's menu consisted of two choices: take it or leave it. ~Buddy Hackett
Celebrations!
SAEs for this week: 44
TAEs for this week: 5
Before You come to Campus...
- Food distribution screening questions -- These questions should be used generically (not just for those distributing food). BEFORE coming to school on any given day, please screen yourself using these questions. If you are not able to pass, DO NOT come to campus.
- Campus attendance log -- We must track who is on campus at any given time in case there is a need to retrace exposure. Please complete the log found at the Google link below EVERY TIME you are one campus. This applies to ALL employees. No visitors should be allowed inside the building.
School Closure Updates as of 4.23.20
Please see my hastily written notes from the district meetings this week:
Runyan construction is on schedule – no delay
Health insurance approved – 8% increase (premiums and the plan, itself)
Raises should cover increase
3.5% for hourly; 3% for teachers; 2.5 for admin.
When we shift back to “Limited Operations:”
Probably sometime during the week of May 4th
Staggered access / time in the building for instruction / cleaning – need to manage that so safe and orderly – plan for the first week of May, for now – no expectation for everyone to return if don’t need to for now
No students or public within the building (but children can accompany their parent if closely monitored) – anything exchanged with the public / kids will take place outside the campus
Will increase operations gradually
Office staff can return with a safe plan
Continue social distancing
Building must be cleaned, so try to isolate to certain areas on certain days
Working on a Building Check-In app within the SSO – in progress
Check pre-screening questions before coming to campus
Canvas
Immersive reader free through end of July; reading accommodations
Health
Need a mask to come into building; don’t have to wear it while working in a room by yourself, but need it to move through rest of the building / work with others
Washable cloth-based covering; doesn’t need to be a medical mask
Masks do not replace social distancing
Added loss of taste or smell is very telling; added to the screening protocol
Curriculum
Working on one-page gap-filling documents to address what we’ve missed this year
No Celebrate our Schools next year; probably publish a video to share, instead
Dyslexia
Moving to a 5-Day instructional model (30 min. / day, 5 days / week) – 504 paperwork may need to be amended
There will be a district assessment team for evaluations
Full Day PK
Furniture: try to keep the PK and K furniture together as a set
Grading
Teachers enter grades; no need to worry about the average – the technology program will override to make corrections as necessary
Continue to encourage people to sign up for parent access
Grading Guidelines -- Updated as of 4.8.20
This guidance is very much aligned with our current understanding, and we will proceed as planned.
Within this updated version, the district has provided guidance for PK, K and Specials. Please review and list questions / topics you'd like to discuss on your team's Monday agenda.
Exchange Day
- Acknowledge your understanding by following the directions included within the district email. Your acknowledgement is required for participation. Failure to acknowledge will mean you intend to work a typical workday on August 4th.
- Begin completing your Safe Schools coursework. To be eligible for the Exchange Day, you must complete 100% of your coursework by 12:00PM on August 3rd. Jewel and I will check completion at that time and notify those who need to report to work on August 4th.
Note: The district usually adds courses throughout the Summer. If you complete all your coursework early, be sure to check back just before the deadline to make sure something wasn't added after you thought you were through. Even things added late must be completed by the deadline in order to qualify for the Exchange Day.
