Food for thought?
Think about this...just what if her Mom didn't take the doctor's advice? Or didn't enroll her in dance school? Or believed she had a learning disability? Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for doctors and for medicine. However, this made me stop and think, do I ever squelch creativity? Sometimes, actually most times, I want an easy fix or rather I want conformity. (Sit in your seat, quit tipping your chair, put your feet on the ground, etc...)
As you start down the home stretch of this school year, think about everyone of your students? How can you help them reach their own dreams and potential? Here is one easy way: Believe in them and encourage them to become the best version of themselves. I bet the reason you became a teacher was become someone believed in you. Take a step back and look at your students, really look at them and pay attention to details. You might be that teacher who believes in the ADD student and they go on to greatness.
