3rd Grade News

April 13-17, 2015

No Homework Packet this week... but daily homework will be assigned!

Spring Conferences--Times in email to come later this week :)

Thank you beyond words for the birthday cards, gifts, and celebration. I am humbled by all the love! I was SO surprised by the student's cards! They secretly took them to lunch without me noticing! It was the sweetest surprise! Thank you to Pritam and Trent's mom for bringing the lunch party! I got to spend spring break really reflection on how much my heart loves your child. I am truly sad as the days are getting closer and closer to an end.

AR celebration and Final AR expectations

Logs were sent home in Homework Folders the Friday before Spring Break..along with many other graded papers! We are celebrating students earning a 100% on their logs tomorrow. Look for an additional email tonight to see if your child can dress down and get ice cream!

Since April and May are cut short because of Spring Break, testing, and end of the year activities, I have decided to combine April and May logs. therefore expectations have changed!

The expectation is for your child to complete 4 books:

  1. Book of Choice (3rd grade level and up)
  2. Chapter Book (3rd grade level and up)
  3. Chapter Book (3rd grade level and up)
  4. Nonfiction Book ((3rd grade level and up)

Additionally, since these are the final reading logs before they become 4th graders, I have informed the students that they need to make 100% on their AR online tests and have 100% quality on their reflections.

If they do not get a 100% on their AR test, but fill out a log, that's okay! The good news is they have extended time to read another book and try to get a 100%! Although 3 books has been the minimum required, so many students are turning in extra logs! I have been so impressed!
