Small Group Reading in Kindergarten
May 1, 2023
Good Morning Memorial Families,
Happy May! Next week we will be celebrating our teachers all week long. I consider every member of our staff a teacher, and hope that we can collaborate together to make it a week to remember for our staff. This morning our Student Advisory Council met to discuss specifically what our students can do all week long for our teachers. Please check out this link for a google document with the information for easy translation, or check out the flier below. Participation is optional, so join in on the fun where you can and as you please.
Our specialists are looking forward to welcoming all of our families to Specialist Night on Thursday, May 25th at two special times:
Last Name A-M will be 5:00pm-6:00pm
Last Name N-Z will be 6;00pm-7:00pm
Ms. DelDotto, Mrs. Dunton, Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Gale, and Mr. Heath have been planning some wonderful opportunities; dancing, viewing an art show, participating in Physical Education stations, checking out technology projects, and experiencing MakerSpace options in the library. Additionally, our Spring book fair will be in full swing and you can stock up on summer reading! We hope that you will consider joining us and we are hoping to get a rough estimate of how many people plan to attend. Please complete this form so that we are able to plan better.
A reminder for our third and fourth grade families that we will have our math MCAS testing on May 16th and 17th. If you know in advance that your child will be absent, please be in touch with his/her teacher so that we can plan accordingly for a make up time.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Lauren and Wendy
Teacher Appreciation Week- Coming Next Week!
On May 18, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm, we are planning to celebrate the rich diversity of our community with a Mendon-Upton Multicultural Night--Passport to Global Citizenship. One of our district's Portrait of a Learner competencies is global citizenship and the multicultural night will help to develop skills such as:
- global awareness and appreciation
- building inclusive relationships
- human connections and conversations
- global learning
- altruism and impact
It is also an opportunity to have some fun as a community!
In the past we have had student performances, sessions where participants can learn new dances, highlights of crafts, history, and culture from different countries, and a wide selection of food items. This year we are hoping to expand our options by partnering with the community.
If you would like to participate in the multicultural night by sharing something special about your culture, please complete the following Google Form by May 10, 2023 Families are welcome to participate through a range of options, such as sharing food, a craft, a story, dance/movement, language, games, music, and more.
