SHS Student Council Making a Difference

Last week the Student Council had a Food Drive collection to benefit the Scott County Clearinghouse. Using cans as payment for entrance to the dance and having a competition between classes they collected 3676 items (canned food, macaroni, noodles, etc.) last week.

The highest ratio of items per classroom enrollment was in our freshman Interpersonal Relations/English 9 Block taught by Mrs. Mihalik and Mrs. Walton with 31.05 items per student. Second place was taken by our American Studies Block taught by Mrs. Wells and Mr. Bagwell with 27.23 cans per student.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IN COLLECTING FOOD FOR SCOTT COUNTY. The representatives from the Clearinghouse were very appreciative. We filled their truck, trailer, and a backup truck that they brought along just in case it was needed.

Cheer Team Heads to State

Scottsburg Cheerteam traveled to Greenfield Central High School this past Saturday for the regional competition, in hopes of advancing to state finals. Out of the twelve teams in the division, the top eight teams advanced to state. SHS cheerteam advanced placing fifth in the competition!

With pure excitement, the team plans on preparing vigorously for this years state competition. The team’s goal for state is placing top three in the COED division, meaning they will have to work very hard towards high placement. State is this Saturday, November 4 at New Castle High School.

The team is ecstatic to be representing Scottsburg High School and Southern Indiana along with Silver Creek, Charleston, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, New Albany, and Our Lady of Providence High School. After state the team will be reworking their routine to compete at the UCA regional competition on November 19 in hopes to get a bid to UCA High School Nationals held at Walt Disney World.
