Autoclave
High Pressure Ssaturated Steam
Sterilizing Equipment
The high pressure kills the germs making the equipment sterile for surgery use. Autoclaves work just like pressure cookers. The idea of an autoclave is to steam away the germs that a regular wash and rinse wouldn't get. The heat inside of an autoclave is higher than average steam; roughly 20 degrees Celsius more. To be able to see if the equipment is sterile, the tape-in spots- will turn black. The equipment that is put into autoclaves, at a vets office, are surgical equipment like a scapul, drapes, retractors, forceps, etc.
