Summer School
Your Opinion Matters
The District is in the process of creating a new 5-year strategic plan, Vision 2025. A committee of staff, parents, students and community members have been involved in this process this year and will continue its work in March.
To help inform the work for this strategic plan, D103 invites you to participate in a 10-minute survey that will provide the committee with valuable information to structure the goals for the district.
Students Pick "Scythe"
"Scythe" by Neal Shusterman was selected by DW readers as the school winner for the 2020 Rebecca Caudill Readers' Award. Stay tuned for the announcement of the state of Illinois winner.
Additionally, the winner of the "Catch a Caudill" contest is sixth-grade ELA Teacher Athena Sotos. Students netted a fish for Mrs. Sotos. Congratulations to all students who took part in this contest!
Upcoming Music Concerts
- DW chorus, orchestra, and show choir will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at DW. Performing is the seventh- and eighth-grade orchestras, sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade chorus and show choir.
Toronto-based composer and musician Cait Nishimura will visit Daniel Wright March 16–17 as our composer-in-residence. Ms. Nishimura's music will be featured on Monday, March 16 during the evening band concert and she will be giving a presentation on composing and creativity for each grade on Tuesday, March 17.
National Census Day
April 1 is National Census Day! What does that have to do with education? Why is it important to schools? Census data is the foundation for the allocation of billions of dollars in federal education aid to qualifying schools. Accurate census data is the key to schools getting the funding they need to be able to serve every child who walks through their doors.
During the month of March, students will be learning about the census. To learn more about what your child will be engaging in please watch this US Census YouTube video.
Track and Field Gets Underway
Track and Field sign up begins the first week of March. Students should see their gym or health teacher to sign up.
Athletes are required to wear either their gym uniform or order a track shirt with shorts being optional. The window to order a shirt is March 6 to March 22. After that, no more track gear can be purchased. During that window, please visit American Outfitters to place an order.
Please visit RevTrack Web Store to pay for track. The fee must be paid by April 6 in order to participate. Our first meet will be on April 7. A parent meeting is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 in the band room.
