This project will be done in school, however, if a student is absent or gets behind they may have to work on this periodically at home.
While we are working on our reading projects, we will continue to progress through our curriculum. In April, we will wrap up our study of Chapter 3 in social studies with an assessment on April 6th (open book as always). We will also be studying the structure of poetry and plays. At the end of the month, we will begin our study of chapter 7 in social studies.
The students continue to work hard in math class! We will have a partial Unit 7 math test on Monday, April 3rd. We will test on lessons 7.1-7.7, which are the lessons we have completed up to this point. The first week in April will be our state testing for reading and writing, and the math testing will be last week of April. During the month of April, we will be reviewing levels 1 and 2 and completing Level 3 of Hands On Equations in math. We will also spend a few days reviewing for the PSSA math tests. We will continue with unit 7 after the state testing.
Mrs. Seufert's Writing and Science Class
Here is what we will be working on this month in Mrs. Seufert’s classroom.
Word Work- We will be reviewing all of the parts of speech before PSSA’s. After the PSSA’s, we will be reviewing the difference between possessives and contractions. Then, we will review homophones to end out the month. Remember that your child can review word work skills at home using Study Island, NoRedInk, or activities that I have bookmarked on my diigo site.
Writing- This last marking period we will be working on research-based informational writing. The students will be selecting a S.S. topic to research and write a piece about. We will learn strategies how to gather appropriate facts and incorporate them into our writing.
Science-We will begin our last unit for the year-environment and ecology. We will begin with wetlands and then study organisms and water quality.
