A Glance into 3G

So true! "You will inference for the rest of life," said 1st grader Christian in the first grade production of The 1M Book Detectives. We had a great time watching the inferencing video and song done by several of our class members in 2012 as we reviewed 3rd grade inferencing in Reader's Workshop.

Early in the year, we noticed our neighbors (3H) doing some very strange looking synchronized signaling. With their help, we have come to learn and love "air punctuation". Air punctuation requires students to speak aloud using signals for punctuation marks such as capital letters, commas, periods, question marks, exclamation marks, etc.

Air Punctuation helps our children become more active readers, to read more fluently, and to improve their written work with punctuation. Please see the videos below for a sample.

Next week we will join the "Hour of Code" with millions of other students around the world. In a one hour course, we will learn computer science basics in learning how to build and change the technology we use everyday to learn. Click the button below to view the website and learn more.
