American Mathematics Competition
Every year, a small group of Andover High School students are invited to take part in the first round of the American Mathematics Competition. This competition consists of 4 rounds that eventually lead to the United States International Mathematics team which will compete on the world stage in the summer of 2023 in Chiba, Japan. The AMC exam is given around the country to students that show a very strong aptitude in advanced mathematical thinking. 9th and 10th grade students take the AMC-10 while 11th and 12th grade students take the AMC-12. This year, 10th grader John Downs won the AMC-10 and 12th grader Ellie Fredine won the AMC-12. In addition, Ellie scored high enough on her exam that she has been invited to participate in the second round of this competition by taking the American Invitational Mathematics Exam in February. Congratulations to John and Ellie and good luck to Ellie in the next round!
