Remote Learning- Kindergarten
Updated for the week of May 8-13 (FINAL UPDATE)
Please check back frequently as this will change as the year progresses. Thank you.
Remote Learning
As a quick guide, your child should daily:
* Be read to by a family member or read to someone for at least 15 minutes
* Watch and participate with a daily sound card video (links below)
* Practice letter handwriting (with recognition of what they are writing, only one letter per day please)
* Practice number handwriting (with recognition of what they are writing and with no reversals, only one number per day please)
*Practice blending and segmenting words that they hear
For example, what sounds do you hear in the word cat? /c/ /a/ /t/
Or what word do the sounds /c/ /a/ /t/ make when blended together?
* Do the items on the monthly homework calendar
* Practice counting by 1s to 100 (if able, then by 5s and 10s)
* Help you with things around your home, especially fine motor activities that strengthen hand and fingers muscles (cutting safely with scissors, opening food packages, etc.)
If you have access to a computer at home, it is highly recommended that your child be on Lexia for 20 minutes per day 5 days per week and on Iready Math for 20 minutes 4 days per week.
📣📣📣📣 📣📣📣📣
It is okay to begin working on Lexia Core 5 and Iready Math at home, but please do not help your student to answer the Lexia/Iready content because the programs are adaptive to their answers and adjusts to reteach or extend as needed. In the past, there have been parents or older siblings who help their K student with content (sometimes several levels) and then the program is too hard because they have not mastered previous content and students easily become frustrated. Thank you!
A paper copy of info and sign in details went home in October. Please email me if you would like another copy of your child's login information. If your student is in class, it is not necessary to use Lexia or Iready Math at home, but you may if you choose.
