Dress Like a Teacher Day - Thursday, Jan. 17
To celebrate students following our PBIS expectations (Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe), we would like to have "Dress Like a Teacher" Day at Woods Creek! Students are encouraged to wear their best professional attire to dress like their favorite teachers and staff members at Woods Creek or District 47. We are looking forward to celebrating our students and staff on Thursday, January 17!

Save the date: The Woods Creek PTO will host our annual Winter Carnival on Saturday, February 23rd from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Please join us for a fun family day!

ELA: Fact and Opinion

In Language Arts, we have been learning about facts and opinions. Students have been locating important facts in informational texts that we have been reading. Students are then forming their own opinions based on the facts that we have been finding. For example, a fact from our text, Gentle Giant Octopuses would be, octopuses have no bones. The opinion based on that fact could be, octopuses are really cool because they have no bones. We will continue working on fact and opinion for the next few weeks. I think it is safe to say that the students are really loving the informational texts that we are reading!


We also have been practicing writing opinion pieces in Writer's Workshop. We have seen a lot of passion about certain topics with evidence to support their thoughts. It is so rewarding when our little authors share their hard work!

Math

In math, we have been hard at work learning double digit subtraction. Students have learned multiple strategies to subtract. In future weeks, we will continue working with multiple digit subtraction up to the 100's place!
