TRIP Orders
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
We continue to order TRIP every Monday we are in school. To minimize contact, we did not send out anything as a hard-copy, so if you are looking for an order form and/or registration form, you may find them on our website or print from the links attached herein. We also sent out a dedicated newsletter describing the program and the new online ordering capability if you would like to consult it. Remember, we have to have your forms and payment in the office by 9:00 a.m. Monday in order to put your order through. We also need to have the signed registration form authorizing us to send your order home with your child, or it will be held at the office for pickup.
Supper Club
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
It’s so much fun to be out and about again, however cautiously. Take a break from cooking, and come for dinner between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m., turn in the St. Ann voucher or show it on your phone, and our friends at the Munster Chipotle will donate back 33% of all St. Ann supporters’ dine in and carry-out purchases! Look for vouchers on Facebook and the school website (we did not send home--again to minimize contact). Please invite your friends! There is also a Facebook event invitation for easy sharing.
No School
Everyone has been working so hard! Enjoy a day off while our teachers engage in professional development.
Happy 70th Anniversary to Us!
Did you know that St. Ann School first opened its doors for the 1950-51 school year? That means we are now 70! We want to celebrate this milestone as best we can considering the circumstances we are under this year. Watch for upcoming special announcements. Special thanks to 8th Grade parent Charity Musick for designing our special new commemorative logo! T-shirts are in the works.
Friday Breathers
From this point forward, Fridays will be review days, and no new material will be introduced in core classes (there will still be specials). We understand that teachers, students, and parents are exhausted by the end of the week with the new demands of this year and want to make sure that everyone has a chance to breathe, catch up, and gain clarity if needed.
Safety Procedures
Please talk to your children at home, especially the little ones, and make sure they understand the importance of keeping their masks on at all times in school unless they are told they may remove them for eating and breaks. We understand that they are not always comfy, but it is critical that they comply, or we may have to ask some of them to switch to e-learning. It is also important to respect the social distancing rules. We know this may be especially hard for our returning Pre/K and Kindergarteners who know how much different their classroom is now compared to last year. Thank you for working with them!

Renew My Church
Last week at Mass we were introduced to the ongoing Chicago Archdiocesan process called Renew My Church for which St. Ann Parish & School have been grouped with seven other area Catholic parishes. The Renew My Church message discusses ways to provide a sustainable, vibrant, and vital Catholic presence for our area. The reality is that many of the parishes in our grouping, including St. Ann, may be consolidated with other churches by the Archdiocese. Consolidation of parishes because of declining finances and attendance at Mass throughout the Chicago Archdiocese is the harsh reality behind Renew My Church.
The Archdiocese has offered a set of initial scenarios that show potential models of how parishes and schools could be configured in the near future. These initial scenarios have been developed considering parish demographics, attendance, financial position, and building conditions. The Archdiocese needs your input and feedback on the initial scenarios.
A description of these scenarios may be found on our website here. Please read and consider them, and then take the feedback survey found here. We are hoping to collect as many responses as possible by Sunday, October 4. Thank you!
All are welcome to join us for an outdoor Mass where we will celebrate the Eucharist together! Cars may enter through the 181st Street entrance (near the back of church) beginning at 5:30 p.m. and park facing south as directed by our greeters. Please wear a mask and remain in your
vehicle. Tune your radio to 89.9 for the broadcast. Hand sanitizer and Communion will be brought to you in your car. Please RSVP at 708.895.6700 or at our Online Reservation Link (open weekly Sunday afternoon thru Thursday afternoon).
Free Lunches for All Students for the Rest of 2020!
Through the end of December, we will have meals (including milk) available for all in-school students free of charge. Ordering is not necessary. E-learning families will be able to pick up two (2) days’ worth of meals for all children at home ages 2 years to 18 years--pickup is at Door C5 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All meals include a carton of milk.
So as not to waste meals, we ask that e-learning families please opt in by indicating their choice on this form. If you have no desire to drive to the school three times a week to pick up meals, please opt out so that food does not go to waste. You can change your mind at a later date, but we really do not want to have to throw away food, so please indicate your choice asap. Several who previously indicated they want meals have not been picking them up, and there is a lot of waste.
You can view lunch menus on the website at www.fspro.com. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Vargas at stannlansinghotlunch@gmail.com
Study Buddies
We are excited to once again participate in the Apples for the Students program through our local Strack & VanTil store! Last year, we accumulated enough points to purchase cameras and video equipment. Please ask everyone you know to save their Strack's receipts from September 1 - March 1, and have your child bring them in to school. We will have collection envelopes in every classroom. Thank you!
