Guidance Night 2021
While we will not be able to host our annual Guidance Night in person this year, we are working to compile a wide range of videos and online resources to share with students and families later this month. Typically, this night includes workshops focused on mental health and well-being, future planning, college admissions, and tools for academic success. Stay tuned for more information about our "on-demand" Guidance Night!
Event Information
Save the Date! Junior Future Planning Night
During this evening event, students and families will hear from admissions officers about the type of school they represent (public university, small private university, community college) and the application process at their type of school. Representatives from Assumption College, Mass Bay Community College, Regis College, and Salem State University will be present. This is a great opportunity to hear from the admissions representatives themselves about the ins and outs of college admission - everyone is welcome!

PSATs for 10th and 11th Graders
We are excited to be able to offer the PSAT to all 10th and 11th-grade students free of cost on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Watertown High School. The PSATs are a practice version of the SAT test, one of two tests (the ACT being the other) that many colleges and universities in the United States accept as a college entrance exam during the admissions process. All 10th and 11th-grade students are signed up for the test. If you do not wish to have your student participate in the PSAT testing, please contact their guidance counselor by January 15. A separate email with more information has been sent to all 10th and 11th-grade students and families.

Website Spotlight
We continue to add more resources and tools to support students and families on our Guidance News website. This week, we'd like to highlight the Mental Health and Well-Being section of our website. Here, students can find some of our favorite local and national mental health resources as well as some quick tips on mindfulness, managing stress, and deep breathing. We also have links to our Wellness Wednesday newsletters from last Spring which include additional resources, tips, and ideas for caring for our minds and bodies. Our mental health team at WHS - the school counselors, school adjustment counselors, school social worker, and school psychologist - is available to support students as they navigate the challenges of high school, process events happening in our community, country, and the world, and plan for their futures. Please reach out to us if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions!
