AKS at Home

AKS at Home

As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS @ Home project provides math and language arts resources, for grades K-5, to support families so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that fits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information at a time that best fits their schedule, or gain tips and suggestions on how to best help their students through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics. Please, follow the links below to have access to the tools and meetings we provide.

We invite our families to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Norma Vazquez (Shiloh ES Parent Outreach Liaison) @ 770-736-2129

Instructional Resources Public Review:

Staff, students, parents, and Gwinnett community members are invited to provide input on proposed instructional resources for select courses in Language Arts, Social Studies, Career and Technical Education, and Foreign Language/ Dual Language Immersion. Before adopting instructional resources for classroom use, GCPS undergoes an extensive selection process. Multiple committees involving various stakeholder groups were convened to select resources to consider for adoption. The resources were reviewed for alignment with the school system’s

Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum as well as strength of instructional strategies, freedom from sensitivity or bias, and diverse representation. Data from the public review and classroom pilots will be considered in making adoption recommendations to the Board of Education in early 2022. This year’s public review opportunity is now open, from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. To begin the review, please visit thislink.

Thank you for your interest.
