DECEMBER DISTRIBUTION & PTA
This week is December material distribution from 12:00-4:00 PM Monday (KG & 1st Grades), Tuesday (2nd & 3rd Grades), Thursday (4th & 5th Grades), and Friday (All grades)!!! If you need to come outside of your child’s grade level day and time, you may pick up their materials from the office during regular hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
Please note that due to the colder weather this month our staff members will be sitting inside to stay warm. A sign out will be posted out front prompting you to please ‘HONK for supplies’. Once you honk, staff will come out and deliver your child’s bag. December’s bags will include grade level materials/supplies AND an additional special bag from our FABULOUS PTA.
Our PTA applied for and earned a CARES Grant that enabled them to purchase the following items for every Odyssey student:
-Whiteboard
-Dry Erase Marker
-Stylus
-Composition book
-Headphones with a microphone

Library Curbside Pickup
Thank you to all the Odyssey families that are participating in the weekly library curbside pickup. It’s great to get books to kids. Just a reminder, curbside pickup is every Thursday from 1:00-3:00. Students must request books for curbside by placing holds in Destiny the week prior to the curbside date. For curbside details, information, and how to videos, be sure to check out the library web site. Remember, there will be no curbside this week due to the holiday break! The December curbside pickup dates: Dec 3rd, Dec 10th, Dec 17th.
Be sure to remind students to complete their library lessons each Tuesday. The lessons include important information in regard to book checkout procedures and library events. A new fun addition to the lesson is a weekly free book raffle! Students must spot Whistler (our library alpaca) somewhere in the library lesson. They need to send me a message by the end of the week telling me his specific location in the lesson in order to get included in the weekly raffle. Winners may choose their free book at curbside pickup or message me to set up a specific pickup time.
I am so thankful for the fantastic Odyssey students and families. It is great to see the kids each week at Wacky Wednesday and I have greatly appreciated the kind words and thankful messages that students have sent. Best wishes for a great holiday weekend to all our families!

Minding Your Health with Mrs. Cass
This month we are going to start transitioning more towards the physical dimension of health, beginning the month with goal setting. We will discuss creating a personal health goal, describe how they can achieve that goal, and learn how to track and analyze their progress (4th-5th). We will also talk about how to use our support system in achieving our personal health goals. In the third week we will start our lessons on staying safe in the home, at school and in the community.
Finally, as report cards come out, I would like to inform you of the standards we have covered in health.
Standard 1. Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.
Standard 7. Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors to avoid or reduce health risks.
Wishing you all a wonderful winter break. Stay warm, healthy and safe! - Mrs. Cass
Playing Music with Mr. Ryan
Hi all you Odyssey Orcas! Welcome to December Music! Instruction in Music is based on the Washington State Learning Standards for Music and may focus on creating, performing, responding to and connecting with music. In music, students engage in singing, playing instruments, moving, and listening.
I hope you are enjoying our “Music Play Online” Company songs and lessons: In Schoology, you click on the “Music Play” link, start at the top with lesson #1, and work your way down the list. If there is a lesson you cannot do, just skip it, and go to the next lesson. After that, you may go to the Music Choice Board with 16 different learning activities! Please remember that our music lessons are on Monday and no more than 45 minutes. Have a great December! – Mr. Ryan, Music Specialist
Kickin in PE with Mrs. Corsi
Happy December Odyssey Orcas!
Last month we completed a virtual Turkey Trot in PE! How did your kiddo do? The month of December will be about different cultures and celebrations. We will also compete in an Iditarod challenge! Keep your eyes out for more info at Wacky Wednesday as well as in the health and PE lessons.
Have you made it to Wacky Wednesday yet? Every Wednesday Odyssey Specialists will host an all-school assembly. Join us every Wednesday at 11:30 to get up and moving, sing songs, hear a read aloud, and play some games!
I hope to see you all at Wacky Wednesday! Enjoy your winter break and be sure to stay healthy, happy, and fit for life!

Vaccinations/Flu Shot:
Don’t delay! Now is still a good time to get your annual flu shot. Many clinics/pharmacies are accepting appointments only to ensure necessary health guidelines and cleaning protocols. As we await the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, it is important to remember that there are many other immunizations available that help in protecting yourself, your family, and community from a variety of illnesses.
Immunizations records for students will need to be in-compliance on the first day of in-person learning. If you are unsure if your student is up-to-date on their vaccinations, please reach out to the school nurse. Contact information below.
The Department of Public Health along with two Safeway Pharmacies in Everett are offering free (no cost) flu vaccines to uninsured adults over the age of 18 to help prevent flu illness during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The pharmacies will not charge an administration fee, and no proof of residence or immigration status will be required.

Health Information:
Please reach out to the school nurse if your student has any new diagnoses, medical information, medication, and/or health needs. Because it has been so long since we have seen our students in-person we want to ensure that when our Odyssey Orcas do return to our campus, that we have the most up-to-date health information. This important information helps keep our students safe and well. Please see the school nurse’s contact information below.
Be well and stay safe.
