Oktoberfest - another amazing event!
From the Principal's Desk
Last Friday's Oktoberfest was another example of our fantastic community at work again. Our schoolyard was transformed into a Bavarian village, with our Oompa band creating the background music for our Alpine adventure. Costumes and pretzels were the order of the evening, with adults and kids joining in the fun and festivities. It was a wonderful night! None of this would have been possible without the enthusiam and energy of the PTG, and I would to acknowledge Dan Mallegni, Monica Healy, Tony Connell, Carrie McEachron, Eunice Chan, and Rhona O' Leary for their amazing work in making Oktoberfest happen. And to all of you who contributed in any way....Danke! As you know, the proceeds from Oktoberfest will be used to develop our Math curriculum, a project that will benefit all our students as they progress through St. Philip's. On behalf of Mr. Bolden and the faculty and staff, please know that your support and efforts are much appreciated.
A Peek at Oktoberfest!
AND OF COURSE, THE AMOUNT WE RAISED IS........$14,000!!!
Happy Birthday!

From your phone you should be able to click on the link above and subscribe to the calendar.
You can also add it to your outlook calendar as well, by following these instructions:
Make sure you subscribe to these calendars and not just use these calendar files. The only way to receive calendar updates is to subscribe to them. Please check the calendar and any other communication from school for important information and updates. We use the weekly bulletin, teachers' weekly notes/emails, and room parent emails to get information to you, so that you do not have to call the school office.
THANK YOU
Thank you to Mr. Yao and the 6th Grade class for hosting our School Mass last Thursday and our Family Mass on Sunday.
Yesterday was World Food Day, a time to remember those less fortunate. Several families from our school and parish volunteered at The SF Marin Food Bank last night. They packed 3,150 pounds of rice! Amazing work that will help thousands of people in our community. Thank you, on behalf of Mrs. Sandy Kearney and all of us at St. Philip's; your generosity and service are an inspiration.
Thank you to all who have helped with mass hospitality, school tours and events, and classroom activities. We appreciate your time and effort!

LET'S SHOW OFF OUR WONDERFUL SCHOOL!
St. Philips Open Houses- Get the word out!
Thank you to all who took the time to promote the school during our recent TK/K and Middle School Open Houses this past week.
A special word of thanks to:
Christy Ventura, John Maimone, and Ruth Major from the Marketing Team; Ms. Williams, Ms. Cota, and Mr. Bolden; Tony Connell, Mary Sullivan, and J.R. Hubbard (parents); Sarah Mullins, Joseph Hubbard, Eleanor Mullen, and Alastair Budd (8th Graders); Oscar Sullivan & Fiona Gard (alumni); Scarlett Doran, Maya Ramirez, and Mireya Medina (6th Grade), and to the parents who attended the Open Houses to show support.
There was much positive feedback from the prospective parents who attended, and they were truly impressed with the presentations and the community of St. Philip's.
Please continue to invite friends and neighbors to attend our next two Open Houses in November, so that they can see for themselves what a great school and community this really is!
We invite you to reach out to families outside of the St. Philip’s community and let them know about our open houses. With limited spaces in middle school, we are targeting parents with children entering middle school in the next 1-2 years.
We know your time is valuable, so we have small flyers available in the office. We urge you to pass these out at your kids extracurricular activities, leave them with neighbors, family or friends.
Please contact Christy Ventura with any questions.

HALLOWEEN IS COMING TO ST. PHILIP'S SCHOOL......
On Tuesday, October 30th, our School Families (led by 8th Graders) will get together to create our Scarecrows. This activity will take place in the school yard, from 10:45 to 11:45, and you are welcome to join. Please remember to sign in at the office. And don't forget to keep those old newspapers and magazines...as well as any old clothes that we can use to make our scarecrows!
Our schedule for Halloween is as follows:
- Regular class schedule will be followed for the morning session. Please follow directions given by the teachers regarding costumes.
- K-4 will start lunch a little earlier (at 11:30). This will allow some additional time so that the younger kids (K through 2) can get ready to parade around the school yard, before leaving for their traditional parade down 24th Street. Parents, you will be given permission slips for this.
- Grades 5-8 will also start lunch a little earlier, so that they have a chance to see the younger kids in the yard.
- Grades 3 through 8 will then take part in the Costume Contest, which will be judged by firefighters.
- Teachers will send information to you regarding plans for the afternoon session.
