From the Principal
This week at Monroe Elementary, we have been busy Map testing. We assess our students 3 times a school year on Map( Measures of Academic Progress). These tests occur in the fall, winter, and spring. This data helps our teachers know who needs extra support or their thinking stretched further. Monroe students take a reading and math test. Next week, our students will be taking the Map Reading Fluency test that also has the Dyslexia Screener that is a requirement for the State of Ohio. This screener is required for students K-3.
The JAHS Band came to Monroe Elementary this week to play for our students. It was great to hear our amazing high school students play for us.
Parents that have students that they pick up each day, please remain in your cars in our pick up line. This ensures the safety of our students and keeps the entryway less congested for our walking students. If your student is a walker, you are welcome to walk up to the school entry area to get your students.
Another strategy that we are incorporating this year at Monroe Elementary to build a community of learners is the “House System.” Each student and staff member at Monroe has been divided into a house group. Each of the 8 color named groups has a few staff members and a mixture of students grades K-4th grade in the group. Each month, the houses meet to participate in an activity together. Sometimes there are house points awarded and sometimes it is a team building activity. This week we had our first house meetings that involved each group playing “Get To Know You” games. During the next house meeting, each group will create their own house chant and a house poster.
Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday because of Labor Day. Have a great weekend!

Talking Points
We are excited to share that our staff members will be using a safe and easy to
use two way communication tool called TalkingPoints to communicate with
families. Families have three easy ways to use TalkingPoints to communicate
with your children’s teachers for free! You can use text message, download the
app or use it on the web at https://talkingpts.org/families/. Once you log in to
