Licensed Staff Meeting
As a thank you for your hard work, during what can be a busy time of year, we have decided to give you the gift of time and cancel Monday's licensed staff meeting. Enjoy your afternoon.
Non-Licensed Staff Meeting

MCA Testing Information
A basic overview of information regarding the upcoming MCA test can be found here. Expect more detailed information to come in the following weeks, but for now, this should answer most of the basic questions you might have.
March System Professional Learning
Our March System Professional Learning meeting is being offered in an online learning format and is open from Monday, March 2 to April 3. You may complete your learning online at a day and time of your choosing or join Kelly Armstrong on Monday, March 23nd from 2:50--3:50 pm in room 209 for a supported online work session. Materials are in the NVMS Schoology course in the 2019-2020 System Professional Learning Folder.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITY
One World Many Stories
Please consider helping us honor North View Middle School’s best and brightest by joining us at our end of the year celebration on Thursday, May 21stfrom 6 pm-8 pm. Our One World Many Stories event recognizes students that have excelled in academics, have a special talent, and/or embraced the Knight Pride cultural expectations of Respect, Responsibility & Safeness and Readiness. We could use assistance with serving food, greeting families, photography, set up, and translation. Informal Observations
Informal walk-throughs continue. The informal walk-throughs are conducted by NVMS administrators and ILT members. Our goal is to ensure fidelity to our grade level engagement plan. The item of focus for the next few weeks are Warm Ups. Warm up activities provide our students with a chance to settle down into the class and get their minds focused on the lesson ahead. Thank you in advance for your fidelity to the grade level engagement plan.

By using the accessibility features that are accessible on the Chromebook we are able to adapt to the needs of the learner. In the coming weeks, I will highlight accessibility features that empowers students to use the Chromebook in a way that meets their needs. TIER THREE (RED ZONE) REFERRALS
If you are reporting an incident that involves a threat to staff or student safety, please be sure to connect with Kim Sturdy personally. Because administrators are not always at our desks during the school day, emailing or leaving a message for us might not get a timely response. You can do this by calling her or stopping down to the administration office. If you are unsure about what a tier three incident is, please click here for that information.
GRADE CUTOFF DATES
Outlined below are the second and third trimester grade cut off dates* that were reviewed in recent house meetings. This information will also be included in the reminder section of my important information emails for future reference.
- Mid-trimester Two: Wednesday, February 5th, 2020
- Final Trimester Two: Friday, March 6th, 2020
- Mid-trimester Three: Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.
- End of the Year Field Trips: End of the year field trip grades will need to be submitted by May 26th.
- Final Trimester Three: Friday June 5th, 2020.
*Note: Students who are failing a class must continue to be provided with opportunities, regardless of the cut off date, to increase their grade to a passing status.
SUSPICIOUS EMAILS
If you receive an email that is suspicious, for example, asking for personal information, impersonating a member the district or district staff, don't reply, but instead forward the email to the Helpdesk.

The link found here will take you to a form to report any non-emergency conditions that could contribute to an unsafe school environment and/or to make suggestions that will improve school safety. When completing this form, it is not necessary to identify yourself, but please be as specific as possible so we can respond effectively. All submissions will be reviewed and discussed at our administrative meetings. This form should not be used in lieu of discipline referrals or to report emergency situations. If you have any questions about this form, please let me know and I will assist.

Peer Observation Submission Link
The purpose of this form is to record licensed staff peer observation dates. All peer observations must be done by the mark reporting date of each trimester.
Reppin’ Knight Pride Certificates:
The form found here has been created to provide you with an opportunity to positively acknowledge our students who are showing Knight Pride. Students who are acknowledged by staff will be given a certificate, Knight Pride tickets as well as a positive phone call home to share this acknowledgement with their family members. Please consider nominating a student next week.
W.I.C.O.R. Posters
Please use the form found here to request an AVID W.I.C.O.R. (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, & reading) strategy poster(s) for your classroom or area of supervision. There are two options to choose from. You have your choice of a poster with a summary of all strategies or five individual posters with more detailed information for each strategy.
