PUSD Weekly Parent Update 5/8
from Mrs. Pearce, Superintendent
Happy Friday!
We have made it another week and hope that you are all staying happy, healthy, and safe. We have had so much fun honoring our staff this week in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day across America! Hopefully, you got a chance to say “Thank You!” to a lunch worker, a teacher, bus driver, or anyone you want to thank for their hard work with students every day! A huge thank you to our wonderful parent group (PPPTG) for helping make our Staff Appreciation extra special this year in funding gift cards for EVERY staff member to a local restaurant, which also helps out our community! What a neat way to honor our awesome staff!
Happy early Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! We are so grateful for all you do to help every day too!

Distance Learning Reminders and Information - Online Instruction Model Extended
Please be reminded that until further notice, suspension of face-to-face instruction will be extended for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Unless the stay-at-home orders are significantly lifted before June 4 (the last day of the school year), we will not plan to resume in-person instruction this school year.
The 8th grade promotion ceremony will be drive-through style. More information will be delivered to 8th grade families in regard to this event and alternate plans in lieu of the regular promotion ceremony.
Daily/weekly check-in and interaction with your teachers is still very important! We are checking for regular involvement with online assignments and/or meets (Zoom or Google). If you are unable to interact daily with assignments, please make it a goal to check-in at least weekly so that teachers know you are there! Again, we understand that completing all assignments is not always realistic. Please do what you can, when you can. If you can catch up on something missed, great! If you just can’t complete everything, that is okay too. The most important thing would be to communicate with your child’s teacher(s) and let them know if you need more time and/or cannot get it all done. Hang in there, we are all in this together and some days are just more challenging than others. Life happens and we want you to not forget the little life lessons we can observe daily by interacting with nature, going on a walk, or just buying groceries at the store.
Teachers are still continuing to provide high-quality distance learning through a variety of online resources. Please check in each day to Google Classroom and/or the other applications each teacher has specified so that we can verify daily interaction with online learning to keep track of students’ participation. Although assignments are not graded during this time, teachers are verifying participation and giving feedback as needed on assignments for completion purposes.
Pacheco Students - Teachers are calculating points for the completion of assignments based on your HOUSE (Kujali, Bepaling, Quantum, Honesta). A winning house will be determined based on participating with assignments and distance learning activities and a reward will be given to the winning house at the end of May once all house points are calculated. If you are working with paper packets, please return them to the school each week so we may include them and calculate your points!
Weekly office hours continue to be available for students and parents to check in with teachers and ask questions as needed. Each schedule varies depending on the teacher and class, so please check Google Classroom for regular updates to stay informed on the latest classroom news.
The school offices continue to remain closed to the public and phone calls. However, the district office remains open, Monday-Friday, 8:00-3:00. If you need to get a hold of anyone at either school, you can always call and leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we are able. The district office phone number is 224-4599 if you would like to speak with the district secretary.
If you are unable to access regular/reliable Internet and/or you would like your student to have a paper packet for the week, every Monday from 9:00-12:00 we will be available at each campus for packet distribution. Packets will continue to be delivered on Tuesdays with lunch delivery to Riverland Market.
**Please let your student’s teacher(s) know if you need a paper packet so we can ensure enough copies for everyone in need.
If you (parents or students!) are in need of any technical assistance accessing any programs with virtual learning or just need some pointers to troubleshoot, we are offering technical assistance at Pacheco from 9:00-12:00 on Mondays. Please stop in anytime during that time frame and we will be happy to help!
