Borrowing eBooks through OverDrive
Installing the OverDrive app and getting started
Install the free OverDrive app from your app store or from app.overdrive.com. The app is available for AndroidTM, ChromebooksTM , iOS® (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), Kindle® Fire tablets, Kobo® tablets, Windows® 8 and up, and Windows Phone.
Open the OverDrive app and follow the prompts to sign in or sign up for a free OverDrive account. Do not check the box for email updates from overdrive.com
If you’re under 13, select I am under 13 years old instead.
(Please wait a few seconds after tapping the under 13 link).
Use the app’s Add a Library (or Get Books) feature to search for Kristin School and save your library’s OverDrive website to the app by tapping the star (it will colour yellow when this is done).
Log into your library’s OverDrive website with your MYKRISTIN USERID & PASSWORD to see all the titles available. Tap or move your mouse or finger over an available title, then select Borrow.
Borrowed titles will appear in the CHECKOUTS area (under your Account) on your library’s OverDrive website. From here, you can:
•Download/Add EPUB eBooks and MP3 audiobooks to the OverDrive app.
•Read most eBooks in your browser without downloading them.
•Listen to audiobooks in your browser without downloading them (on some devices).
- Items that haven't been downloaded can be returned from the CHECKOUTS area in your ACCOUNT.
- After you have downloaded an item to your app, open the app by clicking on the menu icon in the top left.
- Tap on BOOKSHELF
- Tap on the book cover to open the item and read or listen
- To return an item - hold your finger down on the book cover until the options DELETE, RETURN or SHARE appear. Delete removes the item from the device but not from your library account - make sure you select RETURN.
