The Patton Post

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, February 3rd
We had some VERY cold temperatures this week and the students handled it very well! I am always amazed at how flexible they are and how much they enjoy being inside as well as outside.
To help us make decisions about whether we have indoor or outdoor recess, we consult the National Weather Service - we will have indoor recess if it is raining or if the wind chill is below 0F.
We ask that you send students in with their winter weather gear every day as more often than not we are able to get outside. It helps minimize classroom disruption to have all coats and boots arrive at the beginning of the day rather than trickling in during the morning.
We really appreciate you making sure your children are prepared for the school day!
Thank you so much! Stay warm this weekend!

TRAFFIC REMINDERS (NEW POST)
We are so grateful for how smoothly drop off and pickup goes at busy times of the day on the whole, but our wonderful traffic team did just want to flag a couple of things as reminders now we're halfway through the school year:
- If there aren't any parking spots available in the lot, please park on the streets surrounding Patton.
- Please remember to park on streets that allow it - streets that do not allow parking have clear signage.
- Please be respectful of our neighbors and avoid parking in front of private driveways.
- Handicap spots in the Patton Parking Lot are reserved for those with handicap plates or placards.
- Patton Avenue (on the East side of the school) is reserved for Kindergarten pickup only. If you are picking up a 1st-5th Grader, please park in the lot, on the side streets, or join the car line. Please note that you cannot join the car line from that side of Patton Avenue. Older siblings of Kindergartners are allowed to exit through the Kindergarten door for ease of pickup.
We really appreciate your assistance with this - it really does help for a smoother pickup at the end of the day!

Students are welcome to bring in Valentine's cards for all of their classmates - please do remember that no food or candy of any sort can be attached or used as Valentines. Thank you for your cooperation. We greatly appreciate our room parents and all of our volunteers who organize and provide fun Valentine's experiences for our students!

Traffic Team. - Substitutes Needed (Ongoing Post)
We have a truly AMAZING PTA traffic team that ensure our Panthers arrive to and depart from school safely and on time! If you would like to help out, please consider signing up as a substitute by filling in this form. It helps our traffic team enormously to know that there are subs available should someone fall sick or be unavailable. You can indicate if you only have availability for AM or PM and will receive a group text when there is a need. You can volunteer if you are available, but no pressure if you are not available. Any help is appreciated and benefits so many of our students. Believe it or not, even if you can only help twice during the year, your contribution is welcome and needed. Thanks so much in advance!
