Gale Sayers
"The Kansas comet"
Rookie season
Sayers was a dominant running back coming out out of the university of Kansas and into the NFL playing for the Chicago Bears. He scored 22 touchdowns (an NFL record) in just 12 games. 14 rushing, 6 receiving and one each on punt and kickoff returns.

End of career
Gale suffered a career ending knee injury in '68 and powered through it in 1969 but in '70 and '71 he only played two games each. He then retired prior to the 1972 season.
