Week of October 21st
During this time of year as we prepare ourselves to move into the holiday season, and as teachers and students are on the long stretch before a break, inspiration is often times needed. What better place to look for this inspiration than within the children who sit before us and the people we surround ourselves with? We have been watching our Varsity football team lead the way in district, teachers earning digital classrooms and winning grants for innovative learning opportunities, along with watching our middle school students embark on the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program. Inspiration runs heavy right now in Bandera ISD and our core values couldn't be shinning brighter! If you are feeling the need for some inspiration and motivation you are in the right place!
Bus Safety Week
This week our school district will participate in National Bus Safety Week. Our Pre - K through third grade students will be taught, by the members of our transportation department, how to evacuate a bus safely in case of an emergency situation. They will also review appropriate behaviors while waiting at the bus stop, and how to safely board and unload from a bus.
Bus Stop Safety Tips:
- Arrive early
- Stand 6 feet from the street or curb
- Wait until the bus comes to a full stop and opens the doors before boarding
Safety when getting off:
- Cross 10 feet in front of the bus
- Never pick up items dropped in front of or under the bus without telling the driver
- Use the handrail when exiting
Drivers:
- Be alert and watch for children at bus stops
- Know that yellow flashing lights mean children are about to board or unload
- Know that red flashing lights mean that children are exiting the bus
- Never pass a school bus
