National Honor Society Induction
Wynnewood High School held their annual induction ceremony for the Savage Chapter of the National Honor Society on Sunday, May 7.
To be eligible for membership consideration for National Honor Society, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Additionally, potential members must meet the high standards of leadership, service, citizenship, and character which are determined by an application process and the evaluation of faculty.
This year, eleven high school students were inducted into National Honor Society. New members include Aaron Lyle, Keelan Taylor, Kylie Gray, Megan Haley, Aaron Moistner, Aidan Moistner, Casey Stewart, and Jamisyn Thomas.
This year’s retiring high school officers are Trinity Garrett, president; Harlie Corey, vice president; Lydia Moore, secretary; Aidan McCallum, treasurer; Ashlee Lopez, historian; and Brock Dixon, parliamentarian. Incoming officers are McKenna Wright, president; Samantha Stewart, vice president; Gracie Corey, secretary; Jacie Russell, treasurer; Aljexi Barrera, historian; and Bryar Phillips, parliamentarian. Charlie Minton was the installing officer and Preslee Williams served as the candle master.
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this induction ceremony possible, especially Simmons and State Banks of Wynnewood for their financial support.
Mu Alpha Theta Induction
On May 4, 2023, the Savage chapter of Mu Alpha Theta inducted eight new members to join those before them. New to this elite organization of high school and two-year-college mathematics honor society are Keelie Anderson, Aljexi Barrera, Drake Dixon, Brock Dixon, Bryar Phillips, Jacie Russell, Keelan Taylor, and Camden Trett. New officers were also decided for the coming school year. Samantha Stewart who joined in 2022 will lead as president. Keelan Taylor will be vice president. Bryar Phillips will be secretary and Aljexi Barrera will be treasurer.
The Savage chapter of Mu Alpha Theta was founded in January of 2009 and has seen a number of successful mathematics students move forward in life. The organization's principal purpose is to stimulate a deeper interest in mathematics through college preparatory maths and early college math courses. Hopefully, this will encourage an understanding of mathematics' more profound meaning and historical significance.
Savage Springfest
We are going to try this again...we have moved our Springfest to Wednesday, May 10. This will be from 12:30 pm until 2:45 pm. This will be a time for the students to relax and have some fun. We will have games available to play (volleyball, cornhole, tug of war, etc.), and they will have the opportunity to just bring a lawn chair and hang out with their friends.
The schedule for the day will be as follows:
Students arrive at school as normal, and continue throughout a normal morning.
We will proceed to the field after the lunch period ends.
There will be two options available for transportation to and from the field:
Option #1 – the student may drive themselves or ride with someone else to the field
Option #2 – the student may ride the bus to and from the field
Once the students arrive at the field, they will check in with their 5th Period teacher, this ensures that all students have arrived.
The students will remain at the field until 2:45 pm.
At this time, the students will either leave the field by car or if they ride the bus they will return to the high school.
*Being tardy to the field will carry the same consequences as being tardy at school.
*School dress code applies.
*We will have drinks and snacks at the field for the students to purchase.
*Students will not be allowed to go to their cars once they arrive at the field.

TUESDAY !! Junior Class Fundraiser!
Semester Tests!
If you recall, at the semester, we converted back to our old semester test exemption policy in an attempt to help improve student attendance. The graphic below summarizes what and when semester tests will occur. For a student to be exempt, they must meet the following criteria. If students have missed class for anything other than a school activity, the absence counts towards semester test status. As we approach the dates below, teachers will be communicating with their students as to who is exempt and who is not. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
