From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
A huge shout out to our 4th and 5th grade students! They did an amazing job last night at the Christmas Concert. Thank you to Mrs. Ossenschmidt for spending so much time working with these students so that they could learn the music and choreography of all the songs. I can’t wait to see what the students in grades 1-3 will share with us at their Spring concert.
Tomorrow is the last day to purchase Shopping Cents before Christmas break. It is a win-win since our school gets a percentage of every gift card purchase, and it gives parents the ability to finish up some of their Christmas shopping. Added bonus, any family that submits a shopping cents order in the month of December will be out of uniform on Monday, December 19th. Students will also be permitted to wear Christmas tights, shirts, and hats on Tuesday December 20th.
Since this is the last Blue Jay flier before Christmas, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I truly hope that everyone is able to relax and enjoy some family time over the break. I know the holiday season is hectic and stressful for many, so I hope that you are able to take some time for yourself and your family.
Thanks and have a great night!
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

Out of Uniform Incentive for Shopping Cent$
Tomorrow is the last turn-in day for Shopping Cent$ before Christmas break! Remember...any order you turn in will allow all children in your family to be out of uniform on Monday, 12/19. There is no minimum purchase requirement!
Gift cards are great last minute gifts and stocking stuffers! We still have quite a few holiday cards - $10 Amazon and Target, $5 Starbucks and Panera and $25 and $100 PF Chang's. We also have an increased supply of Chili's/Maggiano's cards due to an order mixup. If you will be heading to either of these restaurants soon, please consider buying a card or two from us to help cover your bill!
Shopping Cent$ doesn't cost you any more than you would already spend. Give the cards as gifts this holiday season or buy them for yourself and use instead of cash or credit cards. Thanks for your support!
All special orders that were placed on the turn-in day last week were sent home on Tuesday this week. If you think you had a special order and did not receive it, please contact Amy Roetting (513-702-5985 or amyroetting@hotmail.com) as soon as possible. If you placed an online order, it will be sent home Thursday. Any special orders or online orders placed this week (3rd column of order form) cannot be guaranteed to arrive before Christmas.

Reindeer Day
Kindergarten enjoyed a little festive fun on Reindeer Day! They learned interesting reindeer facts, made reindeer headbands, read the story of Imogene's Antlers, and made some reindeer food for Christmas Eve.
Science Labs
Fifth grade science class used the Scientific Method this week to test the absorbency of various brands of paper towels. Bet you can't guess which brand proved to be the most absorbent? The winner was Homeline Ultra from Family Dollar, and yes, Bounty was the close second!
Practice makes perfect when learning how to use a triple beam balance to find the mass of everyday objects. If you know a sixth grader at St. John's, ask them what it means to "zero the balance!"
Seventh grade students investigated how mass and height affect the energy transformations in a pendulum system. Check out these impressive results!
Helping Peers
Our younger students in preschool - 1st grade have really enjoyed their recent visits from eighth graders! Eighth grade students have read books to preschoolers, made special Christmas books for kindergarteners, and even helped first grade build gingerbread houses.
