Nuts & Bolts
September 30, 2019
Thank you!
Thank you all for your flexibility and patience as we switched up the professional learning originally planned for our half day Friday in order to provide time and space for us to share our thoughts and our selves with our Board of Directors. Our chat may not have changed the status of enrollment or budget; however, I do believe that it was an excellent venue for the Board to meet us, experience our passion, and learn what we care about.
I am confident that we will get all of the enrollment/budget issues worked out.
I thank you all for letting me bust your PLC agendas last week in order to share our budget/enrollment status and to solicit suggestions. Thank you to the Advisory Committee for meeting Monday and further discussing suggestions on how to increase enrollment and conserve money where we can.
Thank you all for meeting in vertical PLCs this week. The marketing committee wants us all to take the fliers we had printed and put them up at businesses and other places we frequent. Please feel free to take as many as you need. If I'm not in my office, please help yourself to the 1/4 page and/or 1/2 page fliers which are on the shelves beside my desk.
I am so excited to share that the sound system was installed in the addition gym this week! It sounds so good and I can't wait for you all to experience it. The junior high students are going to flip because they will have it for their stomp on October 11th.
The leaves are changing and our landscape seems to get more beautiful each day, which makes me happy because autumn is my favorite season. I hope you all had a chance to do something you love with someone you love this weekend. Please remember to take time for yourself because you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Thank you for being here and have a peaceful week,
René

Right now, I am thinking about putting all of our assistants on a list and then go through each one. It could be a Google doc, so everyone knows who is up next - so lead teachers could somewhat plan for their assistants to be out. The other thought I had was to create the same kind of list of assistants to rotate through, but have a different list for each day of the week. That way, lead teachers will know when they plan lessons that one day their assistant might be repurposed. Maybe we could make it around specials . . . I'm not 100%. I will work on it tonight and probably into tomorrow and will have to see how it works out when I get it down on paper. I'm still open for suggestions for this one as well . . .
Collaboration Notes
Thank you to those of you who chose to stay after our meeting with the Board to talk more budget specifics and collaborate on how/where we can conserve funds this year. Thank you, Nicoletta, for compiling the 9/27/19 Collaboration Notes that captured everyone's thoughts and suggestions. Not all of the items mentioned are going to be implemented, as some need more research. Again, if you have additional ideas not captured in these notes, please email me asap.
