Job Opportunities for the 2019-2020 school year.
I will be hiring 4 lunch/recess monitors for the upcoming school year. The hours are 10:30-1:00 daily. Each monitor alternates between outdoor and indoor time so the longest amount of time outside is in 20 minute increments. Please email me or call Edgelea if you are interested. There are no specific job qualifications, except the background check.
I will also be hiring 1 or 2 paras (teaching assistants). The hours are approximately 8:30-2:30 daily and will equal about 28 hours per week. You must have 40 hours of college credits or have passed the Parapro exam. The exam preparation is offered for free through LARA (Lafayette Adult Resource Academy). There is a cost to take the exam, but the preparation is free. There is free child care available while attending classes.
You can phone 765-476-2920 for more information about the Parapro test. I have also included the link below for your convenience.
More information about LARA
Did you know LARA offers the following at no cost:
English Classes, High School Equivalency Diplomas, and job training. Just click on the link above for more information.
Summer Library Hours
YAY! The Edgelea school library is open on the following Thursdays this summer:
June 6, 13, 20, 27 and July 11, and 18 from 10:00-12:00. Students are welcome to come and check out books for summer reading!
The Summer Slide ....It sounds fun but it is NOT!
The Summer slide is the phrase used to describe the slide backwards that many children make in reading and math skills over the summer. ... You can combat summer slide by encouraging your child to devote a small bit of time each day to keeping up skills.
Why Is Summer Reading So Important for Kids' Success? Summer reading is critical for students to retain knowledge and skills learned in the previous school year. Students who don't read are at risk of falling behind their classmates. Parents and teachers can avoid this by making sure kids take time to read.
