Glen Ellyn School District 41
First Day of School is August 29!
Hello!
It’s hard to believe that summer break is almost over. I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and that all of our students are excited and ready to start school again soon! We have been extremely busy here in District 41 with construction at all five of our schools. Staff are just now getting into the buildings this week and are working hard to prepare for the start of school. As a reminder, click here for the academic calendar for this school year. Also, please look for communication from your school principals regarding meet and greet days and other back to school events at all of our buildings.
I want to invite the entire community to a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Monday, August 27, 6:30 p.m. at Churchill School celebrating the completion of the first project funded by the passed referendum. Churchill now has a secure entryway, more ADA accessible bathrooms, and other infrastructure improvements. Thank you to the community for supporting these important facility improvements!
You may have noticed that I started this email with “hello.” As a district we are participating in a national campaign through the Sandy Hook Promise called “Start with Hello.” It is a way for all of us to encourage kindness of one another and to serve as role models for our students. Teachers will be talking with the students in their classes about kindness and that even simple gestures like saying “hello” can make someone’s day! Please join us by being role models for the students in our community!
Have a great last week of summer break!
