Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Month
Hello Woodside Cougars!
It's hard to believe we are already in the second month of 2021! We have seen challenges this past year, and we have also seen or experienced kindness and hope. This month we want to highlight positivity through Random Acts of Kindness, or RAK.
Random Acts of Kindness is a way to celebrate and encourage kindness through a pay it forward model. It is a way to celebrate the little things that can truly make a difference in someone's life. Through www.randomactsofkindness.org foundation, there are many ways in which you can pass along some kindness to others. Below is a month long calendar of RAK activities you can do at home. Be sure to check out their website for more kindness ideas!
“There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” - Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)

Being trustworthy means that you are honest and tell the truth. You keep your promises and do what you say you will do.
GoGuardian Parent
Welcome to GoGuardian Parent!
San Juan Unified School District will provide families whose learners use district-owned devices access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app to help parents/guardians monitor and regulate their children's browsing activity and app usage outside of school hours. GoGuardian Parent is a companion to the classroom management and internet filtering tools that your child's school uses for devices issued to students. Through the use of this app, we hope to encourage more open and honest conversations between parents and children that will result in safer practices and responsible browsing habits.
Watch a very short introduction to GoGuardian Parent.
What is included in this app?
- Top 5 summary of student browsing (apps, extensions, documents, and websites visited)
- View the teacher interventions that were used in GoGuardian during the school day
- Access a 30-day view of websites, videos, documents, apps, and extensions
- Block websites on school-issued devices outside of school hours
- Pause the internet on demand or at a scheduled time (on school-issued devices)
What limitations are there?
- The app only provides families with reports and filtering tools on school-issued devices
- The settings that families choose to enable are only operational outside of school hours.
- Similarly, settings that teachers use in GoGuardian are only operational during school hours.
When will families have access to the app?
- The app will be enabled for families on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020.
How do I get the app?
- To access the app, please follow the instructions below on or after Oct. 12, 2020:
- Download the GoGuardian Parent app: iPhone: Visit the App Store, search for GoGuardian Parent, and tap the download button. Android: Visit the Google Play Store, search for GoGuardian Parent, and tap the download button.
- After the app is successfully downloaded and installed, open it and enter the parent or guardian email address that is registered with your learners’ school. Note: If you forgot your registered email address, please contact your child’s school and they can assist you.
- Login/Check Email: Check your email on your phone for a link to log in to the app. Tap the "Verify your email", and it will take you straight to the app. Note: If you don't have access to your email through the device you used to log in, tap on "Login with verification code", and copy and paste the verification code from the email into the app.
It is important to note that GoGuardian also provides the district’s content filtering (a service to prevent students from accessing inappropriate language, images, videos, etc.). This content filtering is in place 24/7 on all student internet activity when they are logged into Chrome browser with their San Juan Unified School District account, even on personal devices. Once logged in to Chrome browser with their San Juan credentials, district content filtering is active and stays active until the student logs out of the Chrome browser.
