*BAS Testing Update*
- BAS will be required twice a year: Beginning of the year and in January
- You will NOT have to input BAS into the spreadsheet, but please have them all completed by Jan.25th. Diana will meet with each grade at the end of January to show you how to input scores into illuminate.
- We recommend you knock out your BAS the first week back with kids in Jan.
- If you are considering having a student take the 18 week and 36 week placement diagnostic test for Adv. and Acc. they will need to have an updated BAS before Dec. 7th. The sooner I have an updated BAS the sooner I can start the placement assessment. I cannot look to consider a student for placement without that updated score.
- Next semester we will help teachers to become more confident and comfortable with running records as part of their classroom norms. This will take the place of the end of year BAS.

Core Team Info
Core team is the Wednesday we return from break (11/28). During planning that day, we will meet in the front conference room to review Tier 2 students’ progress.
Changes from last year:
Grade levels will be determining the order of students we discuss in advance
The discussion and movement of students through tiers will be based on data from Fastbridge.
To Prepare BEFORE we meet:
1. Please send me a list of current tier 2 students in the order in which you’d like to review their progress by Friday 11/16.
2. Make sure tiered students are up to date with progress monitoring
3. Look at the data so you are able to speak to %iles, expected progress or not-
4. Be familiar with which interventions students are getting and be open to new ideas & sharing with others.
For each student we will project the progress monitoring, review the intervention and goals as we decide next steps- Ex: Does the student stay in tier 2 as is, change intervention, move to tier one, or move to tier 3.
Please let Christina McLeod know if you have questions or concerns.
Save the Date for our Staff Holiday Party
SPAW Week
School Psychology Awareness Week (SPAW) is November 12-16, 2018. This year's theme is "Unlock Potential. Find Your Password!" A password is a personal key for unlocking any number of areas of potential in our lives. Our goal is to connect with how modern youth and adults unlock things (e.g., gaming levels, phones, devices, codes) and to highlight how thinking about specific skills, assets, or characteristics as "passwords" can lead to positive growth. School psychologists are particularly skilled at assisting students and staff in unlocking the resources, proactive and preventive skills, and positive connections necessary to unlock one's full potential to thrive in school and life.
Please take the opportunity to celebrate school psychology @ NPES by sharing the following information with your students:
Mrs. Maurer is here to help students by supporting their abilities to learn and teachers' abilities to teach. She applies expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections among home, school, and the community.
If you see Brooke around today, be sure to let her know how much we appreciate all she does to help our school.
Have a great day!
Fastbridge Testing
Good news!!! Not everyone needs to take the Fastbridge areading and amath assessments in January.
Who needs to take it?
Students at risk (<30%ile in the fall)
Students in RTI for that area
New students that haven't taken it yet.
Please let Christina McLeod know if you have questions or need help.
