Guidelines for Student Cell Phone Use

Cell phone use has become an increasing distraction for students during the school day. Added to specific social media monthly challenges that have been encouraging highly inappropriate behavior in school, we are calling attention to our Student Cell Phone Use Policy.

Guidelines for Student Cell Phone Use:

  • Students are expected to leave cell phones in their lockers or backpacks during the school day (7:40 to 2:30 pm). Cell phones should be turned off during the school day.
  • As part of their classroom management procedures, teachers may proactively choose to employ a phone "check-in" for students which fail to meet this expectation to avoid disruptions to learning.
  • At no time may electronic devices be used in restrooms or locker rooms.
  • Students with disabilities or health conditions that require phone access during instructional time must coordinate with the teacher, counselor, parents, and/or administration.
  • Inappropriate use of technology/electronic devices can be addressed in the student code of conduct and may result in discipline.
  • If parents are communicating with their students during the day via their devices, please know they may not receive it until the end of the school day. We encourage all parents to utilize the main office number as the primary method of relaying important and urgent information to their children.
