Message from Mr. Sabol
Happy Winter Break Trojan families!
For our students, this break is an opportunity to explore your passions, indulge in creative endeavors, and discover new interests. Take time to read a book that has been on your list, engage in activities that bring you joy, and reflect on the goals you hope to achieve.
To our families, thank you for your continued support. Your involvement and partnership play a crucial role in the success of our students. I encourage you to use this break as a chance to strengthen family bonds, create lasting memories, and foster a sense of unity within your households.
Please take this time to prioritize self-care, cherish moments of joy, and surround yourselves with positivity. On behalf of the entire school staff, I wish you a joyful and rejuvenating winter break filled with laughter, love, and moments of reflection.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Feburary 26th!

AFTERSCHOOL ASL CLASS Sponsored by Greene PTO
The Greene PTO sponsored an afterschool American Sign Language class for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Students spent seven weeks in January through mid-February learning all about ASL. Among other things, these students learned to finger-spell their name, to sign the alphabet and numbers 1-10, and to sign the story "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" by Bill Martin Jr. In addition, students learned the signs for animals, food, family and sports. As a final project, students created their own sentence or conversation to sign and present. We had our final presentation and celebration on February 15th for students and their families. It was wonderful to watch these children at all different ages learn and grow during this program, but even more amazing to watch them support and encourage each other throughout the program.

IN OUR CLASSROOMS
ART
5th Graders have been working on pinch pot clay monsters. They have been doing an awesome job constructing and painting these.
PE
February is Heart Healthy month. Students will be learning about how to keep their heart healthy, how the heart and the lungs work together, and things to avoid that can affect heart health.
February 26th will kick off our Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association. Our building has a long history of participating with them to raise awareness and money for heart health. Participation in the fundraiser is optional, but all students will participate in lessons and our jumping in event during PE classes. Be on the lookout for flyers coming home after the February break!
REMINDER: It’s winter weather season. If your child will be wearing boots to school please send them with sneakers for PE in their backpack. 4th and 5th graders will also need a different top and bottom each week for preparation
Mandatory Emergency Drills
To ensure the highest level of safety for our children the district is required to practice our Lockdown drills, fire drills, and early release drills. We take these very seriously and understand the importance of being prepared at all times. We ensure anytime these drills are done that we announce at the time of the drill that they are a practice drill.
ATTENDANCE IS KEY TO STUDENT SUCCESS
Attendance matters and we all know that good attendance is key to achieving the highest student success. We understand that keeping sick kids home is necessary and helps maintain a healthy school. Aside from sickness...
We notice a high level of absences on days we have a delay...Please do not think a 1 or 2 hour delay is a waste of a day! Plenty of meaningful learning still occurs. We encourage you to make sure your children are attending even when we have a delay!
As a reminder. If for any reason your child is not having his best morning and needs a little extra support or some extra space consider reaching out with a quick email or message to their teacher and/or myself. You don't have to go into details but just a simple message saying the name, grade, homeroom of the child and "HANDLE WITH CARE " will suffice. This will allow us to be ready to better accommodate them with whatever they need when they arrive.
