The Black Hawk War

In May 1832 Sac and Fox Indians under the leadership of Black Hawk left the Iowa territory and Returned to their homes across the Mississippi river in Northern Illinois. Sac and Fox Indians has lost their Illinois lands in distribute in treaty singed St. Louis in 1804.Sac and Fox Tribes return to Northern Illinois sparked widespread panic among the settlers, and Illinois Governor Reynolds quickly called the militia, witch included a young Abraham Lincoln. Both the militia and army troops proved unable to locate the elusive Indians at first, but by July they had to begun to purse black hawks band across Illinois and southwestern Wisconsin engaging them in major conflict at Wisconsin hights before finally routing the Indians at bad axe on the Mississippi river.
