HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 7 - 15 June
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The challenge remains with us to make choices which make a real difference. Easier said than done sometimes but always worthwhile.
Please note the day change to the next Holy Rosary Community (formerly P & F) Meeting. Instead of Tuesday 26 June it will now take place on WEDNESDAY 20 June at 7pm in the Staffroom. All are welcome.
It has been a big sports week this week. Cross Country on Monday was so impressive! Rob Flexman was there setting up at 6am, which meant that everything was organised and flowed smoothly. Great job! Thanks Rob. The determination with which children competed was just amazing. Motivation can be quite varied, from children who want to win, to those who are less concerned about a place but more focused on their own personal best performance – and both motivations are honourable. A great way to start the week! Julie Catherall, who is one of our assistants was also involved in coaching in running club and supporting the children – thanks Julie!
This week has also seen 'before school' winter sports training in preparation for the interschool carnival next week. Thank you to the teachers and support staff who have been out there encouraging our children to have a red hot go!
To the parents and guardians who have been able to get the children to school early for the cross country and winter sports training sessions, thank you for your support – mornings are busy times!
Have a great weekend

CREATIVITY IS CONTAGIOUS...PASS IT ON!
Albert Einstein famously said: “Creativity is contagious… pass it on!”
Elise and Christian’s creative mum, Gill Gavin, has designed a fabulous pamphlet to promote our school – so please pass it on!
The pamphlets are going out to our Kindy and Pre-Primary parents as we look for some lovely families to fill our last few Kindy 2019 spots.
There are more pamphlets up at the office if you wish to give one to an interested family.
INTERESTED FAMILIES: Can book a visit via our website www.hrs.wa.edu.au
Gill Gavin, graphic designer, is in our Business Directory on the school website – look her up if you need a hand!

Lifelink Launch
On Wednesday 6 June, four of our Student Leaders Joseph Dimattina, Eva Dias Kelly, Olivia Tranter and Thomas Gray, ,represented Holy Rosary School at the Official Lifelink Day Launch at Newman College, Churchlands. LifeLink is the Perth Archdiocese fundraising agency through which Catholic Serivces are supported.
It was reported that last year 34,000 people received more than $5.4 million of assistance through these services. Most of the funding is provided by both State and Federal Governments, but each year Catholic Schools and Parish Communities also contribute significantly to support the many great works of the agencies. The money collected for free dress day we will have at the end of this term will go towards the LifeLink Appeal.
During Archbishop Timothy Costello’s address at this event, he spoke of our need to be like Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.
(John 10:11)
He explained that through the example of Jesus, we are called to be the Good Shepherds as well. This does not mean that we need to die to support others, but rather, that laying down our life is about service to others while we are still very much alive and that by supporting the various agencies either through volunteering our time or providing funding, are ways that we may each live out the scripture passage in a very real way.
The students were presented with a a commemorative plaque in recognition of our school’s continued support of the LifeLInk Appeal.
