Wredling 6th Grade

* We Play, We Learn, We Grow Together *

Welcome to WMS and Sixth Grade

We hope that you had a wonderful summer break that was filled with family, friends and summer fun. Welcome to Wredling Middle School. Sixth grade is a milestone in social and academic growth as you meet new friends from other schools, learn to switch classes, gain independence and take on new responsibilities. Together we will work towards a successful transition as we explore middle school and prepare for your future. We will overcome obstacles and mistakes together on this journey as we strive to have a school year filled with new and exciting opportunities, engaging and rigorous learning and many wonderful memories.

What To Expect The First Couple Days

We can imagine that there are so many questions and feelings of uncertainty. The first few days of school will be spent getting to know teachers, classmates, and the building in order to set students up for success. As a team, we subscribe to the notion that you have to go slow to go fast, and we will be taking time this week to help students organize their materials, in your backpack and digitally.

6th Grade Hub

Your teachers have been working hard this summer to prepare for the new year and we are eager to meet you. Teachers will be utilizing the 6th grade HUB . Please bookmark this site, for your reference and convenience and we will have students do the same. Individual core teacher web pages will become available and will post agendas, contact information, and syllabi.

SOAR Positive Incentive System

The SOAR incentive is an acronym that stands for Stand Out And be Recognized. This is a special incentive as students will be recognized and given a ticket when they have gone above and beyond, making good choices as well as putting effort into improving behaviors. There will be lockboxes to house these tickets and will frequently draw winners. As stated, this is a way to really recognize students that are good citizens and self-directed learners.

We will be recognizing students according to Wredlings "Guidelines for Success" I can: Be responsible, be respectful, be positive, be honest, be kind, persevere.

This year students will not be utilizing lockers. Students will be permitted to carry around their items in a backpack. Included is the information you received at the material pick up. Our goal is to set students up for success by having all the necessary supplies while still making sure the backpack is manageable to carry. This will be a bit of a learning curve the first couple of days as we navigate what is essential.
