Vancouver Public Schools, consistent with new guidance from the Wash. Dept. of Health, will soon begin hybrid instruction for elementary students. The district’s board of directors expressed support for the start of hybrid learning at its Jan. 12 board meeting as recommended by the superintendent.
Timeline
- Jan. 19: Kindergarten in-person hours expand
- Jan. 25: Grades 1-2
- Feb. 1: Grades 3-5

- VPS is building a new elementary school at NE 25th Avenue south of 88th Street. The school is projected to open in fall 2022. Suggest a name.
- Apply for in-district boundary exceptions. New requests for the 2021-22 school year are now being accepted electronically.
- Applications are now being accepted for magnet programs and programs of choice that provide learning options for students in sixth through 12th grades.

- Monday, Jan. 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
- Friday, Jan. 29: Semester break, no school*
*If schools are closed due to weather, the calendar may change. Missed days must be made up. Makeup dates, in priority order, are June 17, 18, 21 and Jan. 29. Actual date(s) could change based on timing and number of snow days.
