Talley Street Update
March 24, 2022
Dear Talley Street Community,
We will administer the Tripod Survey next week before spring break. The Tripod student surveys gather data from students about themselves, their classrooms, and their schools. Classroom-level measures offer insight into teaching effectiveness, peer dynamics, student engagement, and the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) culture. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. You can review the Tripod Survey questions and the Tripod DEI questions at the links provided. All student survey data is anonymous and self-reported. The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. The survey will be given to all students. Some parents have already opted out. If there are others that do NOT wish for your child to participate in the Tripod Survey, please email me by 7:15 on Monday morning. Classes will begin taking the survey next week.
Tomorrow night is our Black History Month Program. We are so excited for everyone to see our students' amazing performances. We anticipate a large crowd. If you live nearby and can walk, we encourage you to do that. Parking is limited. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Recorders for Music
Hello Students and Parents!
I am so excited to announce we will begin learning about and playing recorders very soon! I know many students already have recorders, but if you do not have a recorder or you would like to have an extra one for home and keep one at school or just simply want a new one, please fill out the order form below. Recorders will be used as a fun way to learn a beginner instrument, learning notes on the treble staff, reading rhythms and notes, ensemble playing, ear training and eye coordination. The list goes on and on! The student book for home practice is optional and comes with all the songs and music. I encourage those students who show interest and desire to learn and master to have this at home.
To order, please fill out the form with secured payment attached and return to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday March 18. Checks should be made to Talley Street Elementary School and in the memo section student name and the word recorder please.
Email me with any questions. tjessup@csdecatur.net
