Homework due Monday: Please bring a list of the first names (or nicknames) and titles of the members of your household. (For example: Student: Nyxy, Sister: Roxxi, Mother: Ms. Kimmy) We will be using this for an activity.
You can access our YouTube Playlist for next week below. Allow your child(ren) to listen to it in the background while they play. Note: There is a song listed from a Jehovah's Witness channel. They use "Jehovah" instead of God, but there is nothing in the words that is anti-Christian. It's a song about families. Feel free to skip it if it bothers you.
Are you ready? We're ready!
While we have yet to dig into our curriculum, we have been learning! We have spent the past month getting to know one another and becoming used to our new rules and routines. We have learned how to take care of our room and materials, assessed what we do and do not know, and have practiced respecting each other's individual space.
We have also had our first fire drill and we are pleased to say it was a success!

A Glance at This Past Month
Habit of the Month: How to get a Person's Attention without Interrupting
When we want to talk to a person who is already talking to somebody else, we do not say "Excuse me" unless it is very important. Instead, we place our hand on their shoulder or arm and wait quietly. This lets the person know that we have something we want to say to them when they are ready. The person whose arm is being touched will touch that person's hand and nod while making eye contact to let them know they realize they are waiting and will be with them shortly. The child will then return to their activity until the other person is finished with their conversation.
This allows a child to practice self-control and patience, as well as respecting those around them by not interrupting.
