A Message from Marcie
Hello, South Park!
Thank you all so much for adjusting your child's arrival to closer to the 8:35 a.m. start time when we have supervisors on duty at South Park. We appreciate your cooperation.
We also want to thank all of the families for coming out to our South Park Book Fair last night on the Rosewood Blacktop. What a fun way for us to come together, not only to fundraise for the PTO, but to celebrate a shared love of reading at South Park School!
Our book drive, which launched during last night's book fair, will continue all of next week. Please consider donating gently used or new books which will be collected at all grade levels doors through next Friday. We appreciate your supporting our effort to model the importance of philanthropy at South Park.
With much gratitude,
Marcie
Lunch Plans for Colder Weather
As we prepare for the cold weather, we have revised our lunch procedures to accommodate all students as they eat inside of the building.
Here is what you need to know:
- The tents will be removed at the end of the month and all students will eat indoors beginning on November 1.
- The lunch schedule will remain exactly the same for all South Park students: PreK, K, and 1 will have lunch/recess from 11:25-12:20. Grades 2 and 3 will have recess/lunch from 11:25-12:20. Grades 4 and 5 will have lunch/recess from 12:25-1:20.
- Students will either be assigned to a seat in the multipurpose room or in the classroom with 6 feet of distance between all students regardless of location.
- Classroom teachers will send more information about where your child will be eating lunch by October 25.
- Please direct any questions about lunch to Dr. Faust.
Thank you for your support!
Halloween Info
Please see last week's newsletter for some important reminders about wearing costumes at school.
If you need assistance in providing your child with a Halloween costume, please reach out to Dr. Faust. Families who are not comfortable sending their child in costume, please reach out to your child's teacher so that we can be sensitive to you or your child's feelings about dressing up for Halloween. We want everyone at South Park to feel comfortable.
Additional details will be shared next week.
Rosewood Construction Continues
Rosewood Avenue is still under construction. Please see last week's newsletter for information about the construction project and the recommendation from Deerfield Police Department about avoiding Rosewood until construction is complete.
Reminder for South Park Volunteers
A quick reminder, that all volunteers or individuals spending prolonged time in one of our buildings are required to be vaccinated or provide proof of a negative COVID test.
Please see last week's newsletter for details about this new requirement.
Sending Effective Masks that Cover the Nose
Please make sure your child's mask fits snuggly to their face. If you notice the mask is slipping below your child's nose after talking for a few minutes, we recommend that you consider another style that fits more securely. An effective mask should fit securely over the nose and below the chin, adhering closely to the face without any gaps.
Thank you for your cooperation!
