In the Classroom

It's a fun week in first grade! We're learning about gravity, force, and motion! We're learning through books, videos, and experiments!

I look forward to discussing your child's progress with you next week! Parent-Teacher Conferences are October 19th and 20th. Thank you for promptly scheduling your conference through my Google form!

Learning This Week

Word Work- This week's sight words are: was, of, much, eat, she. This week's word pattern is -eat (heat, neat, cheat, seat, treat, meat)

Reading- This week students will describe characters and a setting in fiction stories.

Writing- This week students will focus on writing stories with a beginning, middle, and end.

Math- Students will explore addition strategies. By the end of first grade, students should be able to fluently add within 1-10 and have strategies to subtract within 1-20.

Science- This week students are learning about gravity, motion, and forces.

Last week's class attendance: 99.49%

Our attendance goal for Sweeny is 96% or higher attendance. In our classroom, we are trying to earn an attendance celebration. Every day that we have 100% attendance we earn a letter. When we spell "perfect attendance," we will celebrate! "If you're not at school, you're not learning!"
