LION ROAR
First week of school message from Ms.Silb
Dear Lions,
So it begins! The staff has been working all week to be ready for your arrival to campus next week. We are welcoming in 7 new teachers and 7 veteran teachers. This means that you will see a lot of new faces on campus and that you may have a new Advisor or teacher. Please be open to building new relationships and you should feel more confident about the changes after a week in their classrooms.
Upon arrival, you will be checked for three things for COVID safety. Staff will make sure that your mask is on, that you sanitize your hands and then, you will have your temperature checked. We have PPE on site if you need anything. A wellness questionnaire will be sent home to the family daily through one call by 5pm each day.Maintain 3 feet of distance between you and your peers in the classrooms. Masks need to be kept on, except for eating and drinking. This includes the time when you are outside. We will have full sterilization of all accessed areas daily in line with the CDC standards. If you have any questions about the return to school protocol, please contact Martin Farfan at mfarfan@tfhe.org.
Make sure you are in dress code. You should wear clothing that is not red or blue, including shoes, bags and other accessories. Make sure your shirts show your positive identity and are free from images or references to drugs, alcohol or sexually explicit images. When in doubt, don't wear it and bring to school to see if you can wear it.
Lions should also be prepared to put their cell phones into the cell phone hotel at the start of each class. Parents/guardians can call the office where we will get messages to students in class.
Schedules are available on PowerSchool today. If you are unable to access your schedule, school staff will help you on Monday.
Teachers will share more information with you this week about what you need for their classes. The most important piece of equipment to bring is your charged Chromebook, every day and something to write with.
School supplies:
English 9 - composition notebook, index cards, pens, pencils
Social Studies classes - notebook or paper in binder

Spanish (Quinones) - pen or pencil and notebook or folder/binder with paper

When we are together on campus, we will continue to build our school culture ensuring our students are receiving high academic standards of instruction. We will be starting up clubs and student government in the next few weeks to strengthen our community and develop Lion leadership. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns. I am excited to begin the year as the new principal of LVLA and looking forward to connecting with students next week and families throughout the school year.
In community,
Ms. Silbergeld
